I would only change the hg and head bolts if the existing hg is blown. If it is, go with felpro and 10mm arp. If not blown, spend money on a good engine management system like nistune. That will go a lot farther to keeping a healthy engine than a thicker headgasket. BTW the weak spot is the factory ...

How exactly do you know where peak hp is? And yes JWT has tuned for my compression ratio. I spoke long and hard with them before pulling the trigger. I just looked at your dyno graph and your mods. No parts that you have will shift the powerband to the right past stock peak HP...unless I am missing...

MSD Blaster SS is a decent coil but I would make sure the battery/charging system is sufficient before investing in a coil. Also, you can always hardwire the stock coil with 12ga wire for more volts. Check the Tech Paper on the home page. Looks like you were past peak HP so I'm not sure it would hav...

I bet the O2 sensor is trying to correct the rich condition in closed loop. I wouldn't worry about the vacuum leak - I would focus more on tuning. I would disable the O2 correction (aka closed loop) and try to get your A/F at idle and 3000rpm correct, then tune for accel enrichment and go for a driv...

Update: Got the wastegate dump tube recirculated. Can't believe I went so long with an open dump. Now it sounds like a Supra ! Nice, good to see more maps. I would do the same if I had got to a dyno too. So ur in column 65 at 18psi? I take it nothing jumped out at u on mine? 18psi is 75TP. That's just a 91 octane tune that I put together. On my meth and 94 octane tune I'm running 15* at 18psi, 14* at 20psi, 13* at 22psi an...

Here's my latest map. As you can see, it ramps up timing with RPM. This does a couple things. It reduces max torque and increases top end HP, resulting in a more linear powerband. http://i409.photobucket.com/albums/pp177/n8dgr84/timingmap.jpg http://i409.photobucket.com/albums/pp177/n8dgr84/21psi25p...

You have to reduce cylinder pressure to run higher boost on pump gas, especially on a high compression 9+ motor. This can be accomplished by many ways, including tuning, cams, head work and shorter intake runners, etc. The easiest way is to ramp the timing up with RPM so that it doesn't create a dan...

Okay guys going back to the dyno hopefully tomorrow, I put real clamps on every hose leading in or out the intake manifold a total of 12 and fixed all other boost leaks. I also switched the maf over to draw and got a newer cleaner z32 maf. Oh and I forgot this dyno was 6 psi not 7 let's hope I make...

Too complicated. Maps are all over the place. Closed loop doesnt do anything because your 02 voltage is at 2.55 for stoich reference? If you dont want closed loop just uncheck the 02 sensor flag and make a/f and 02 in scalars to 0. Your K value is way too low. should be around 35000. My advice for y...

Maptrace (TP Logging) Working on NDS
Hey Guys, Just thought I'd let you know how to make the Map Trace feature work on NDS for our cars. Steps to Success: 1) Run NDS with engine on and connected to ECU 2) Click Map Trace 3) Enter the following values: S13 KA24DE YOU MUST TYPE THE VALUES IN ALL CAPS! RPM MSB - 4475 RPM LSB - 4474 TP - 4...

Hey Mark, The lightning maf will not run as tight an AFR as the Z32 unit. I see 13.5-15.5 under cruise conditions. Anyway, I sent you a vq map that I use. Note: A small exhaust leak can also cause high variance in AFR reading. Let me know if I can answer any more questions. Looks like you have a nic...

I didn't know exactly what to modify because I haven't tuned a SOHC before. The reason the TPS Enrichment Trigger map is at 0V is because I believe this gets the fuel to the fire faster. For instance, if I'm cruising along at .8V TPS and I hammer the throttle, I dont' want to wait for the TPS to hit...

Great data log. This is an interesting puzzle....Just look at the table. Rows 69 and 70. Columns 2 and 3. First clue: RPM drops when AFR drops to low 10. I know engines run OK in these conditions but it certainly isn't helping the situation. Also, make the TTP Max all the same. Your fuel map is supp...

From what I recall when I ran the Z32 maf, I had the one ground on the MAF wired to the ECU ground and spliced with a ground that was run to the chassis to reduce voltage drop. From what you're saying, the 0-5V signal voltage is around 8V? It should be .8V-1.3V with the key 'ON', measuring between t...
