Re: can someone clear this up?

Probably running >5 bar fuel pressure. 1000cc fuel injectors on E85 will only allow you 325 horse @ 3 bar while keeping that 80% duty cycle safety margin. If you go to 4 bar it allows you to go approx. 375ish At 5 bar you can get around 425. Granted all this is just math and what you see on the vehi...

Re: Bore vs. Hone

Need to read a little more before you post. No such thing as 91mm bore on a KA. 89mm is stock, .020 over is 89.5mm or .040 over is 90mm. The head gasket should always be bigger than the bore size otherwise you will never get it to seal. Personally I would recommend staying with the smallest bore pos...

Re: compression ratio's

I'd be really interested in hearing about new pistons . Plenty of fellas are revving out the ka to 7000-7200 and you suppose I should go straight to a t4 flange if I want those numbers ? I'll be making a post on them probably tomorrow or Wednesday as soon as he goes back to work and can get me the ...

Re: compression ratio's

600 BHP is just a little outside the best efficiency for the GTX35R but not bad at all. Personally I would run 9.0:1 as the little more compression will help you pre-spool. Seeing as your talking highway car though, it really wouldn't make a whole ton of difference. Just fyi though there isn't that ...

Re: Smbonn's Track Star Street Car build

Thanks, and yeah cutting the harness sucked, but it's done now and I wont have to mess with it again until I create the harness for the entire car. Definately glad I did it though, now I don't have to worry about ever cutting it with the wheel.

Re: Smbonn's Track Star Street Car build

Well took a couple more days than I planned but here is the update. Sorry about the picture quality as they are all cell phone pictures. Been doing some work on the build here and there, but with a family now it's been fairly slow. Moved the chassis harness out of the wheel well to prepare for going...

Re: Machinist Question to the Public!

I dunno if anyone else would be interested in this but I know I'd be interested in a thermostat housing that comes straight out with a 16AN fitting on it, maybe a couple ports on it for sensors. So getting rid of the elbow and just having the fitting? Or adding a fitting on it for a water line ? Ye...

Depends how much they are warped, I've done some work in a machine shop and have seen this fairly often in OHC motors. It's not really too hard to fix but unless you are building a massive HP motor I wouldn't worry about it.

IIRC It was the CORE offroad series that used the KA motor and if my memory serves me they DID NOT rev to 9k, but only to 7300 due to the harmonics in the crank and having bearing issues.. More RPM's would be of the best benefit to larger turbo guys to keep them in boost longer. I'm in the middle of...

Honestly the best buy for your dollar would probably be the Brownline Metal Works torque wrench. I'm not normally a fan of 1/2" drive for engine work but for $100 and being almost as accurate as a $400+ Snap On one, can't really go wrong.

Possibly something to bring to Xcessive's attention and see if they would make one for KA/VG setups etc. And just a v...

^ On the same reference, you want about 10psi per 1k RPM. So use the thinnest oil possible to get both good pressure and good flow. Too thick of an oil (a lot of the people using Rotella) will give you great pressure but doesn't flow as well... You need BOTH to keep your motor happy. Everyone really...
