Rim sizes for a 240 SX

Post by sam »

Will 18 inch rims sizes fit a 96 240sx without the hassle of offsetting and such? also which would be better for a daily driven car 17s or 18s (average road condition - i.e. few bumps dents cracks)?

Looking for a set of chrome rims w/ tires for about 800 or so USD anyone have any good suggestions?

Thanks,

Sam.

18 inch wheels will be fine, but what do you mean by offsetting them? I have 18" on my s14 and in my opinion I like it better then 17's look wise. If you plan on using coilovers get sommething in a low offset of +20 or less. As for where you can get a nice set for your price range, go to www.memoryfab.com thier prices are good and they have great customer service.

allright, I think you mean running excessive camber? I have a 18x10 in the back with a +15 offset and I have maybe 1* of camber not much.

Yeah, 18's fit good on the 240's. I had a set of 18X7.5's on at first (the rear should have been wider). I now have a set of 17X8 & 17X9 (daily) and a set of 19X9 & 19X10.5 (show). the 19's fit real good but that's because I have wider fenders on it now. I think that the 17's are the most comfy for daily driving but 18's are not bad and look better too.

i like 17's for my daily as i got some 350z's which go for pretty cheap imo. and the width and offset is pretty nice on a s14 and they clear the z front brakes no problem....

18X8 and 18X9 should fit pretty flush Here is a pic of a 240 w/ some 17X8 & 17X9 (I know you want 18's, pics just for reference) The offset on these is 17X9 +33 (225/45/17) & 17 x 9 +33 (245/45/17) Just replace the 17 w/ 18 and you got yourself some #s to use.

They are 1st Gen Volk GT-P wheels. The pics are from the guy that I bought them from. They look sweet. Since they were prodeuced in 1996, they don't make these exact ones anymore (but they do make newer GT-P wheels). Volk should have the new ones in four lug. And for the staggered look, I know Axis wheels make staggered wheels for 4 lug cars, check them out.

^ :( :?
I hope your joking. Those really don't fit the style of a 240 IMO. Also, chrome wheels (again IMO) just don't look right or belong on a sport compact.
But in the end, it comes down to an owner's personnal taste and look your going for.

No... Those wheels dont belong on anything that carries a Nissan badge, maybe a Honda though, imo. As for the post above me, its not only your opinoin, those things should go straight to the scrap yard.

What is the look that you are trying to acheive w/ your car exactly? Baller style (big and real shinny in all chrome), drifter/racer, or just want nice wheels?

Nice wheels. So when I pass people say 'now that's a hot car'.
I don plan on racing the car anytime soon, or at least until i pay off the 3Gs i owe on it. So shiny rims are kinda what i would like for now.
