nice work. that car is insane.

i always see your guys' stuff and think to myself, "why did they stick with the ka?" was it just to prove what the engine was capable of? unbelievable.

why not? its the motor that came in the car, and its capable of making nasty power. if everyone always takes out the stock motor and goes with the norm then its "just another car"

bro, relax. i have a ka-t. i was just saying that there are "easier" options out there with more support e.g. rb/2jz/1jz/lsx. i know they have been doing ka's for a while. if their goal was for a fast drag setup, it seems like there are easier starting points.

let's be realistic; the main reason most people on this board are ka-t is because they were on a budget without the support of a highly capable shop. these guys not so much.

importdps, sorry if this read like i was hating. i am just curious.

bro, im relaxed. i just dont think you see the point that these motors make very good power easily and you dont need to go to a cliche' motor to go fast. in fact it would be a lot more effort to go as fast with a 2jz or whatever u think would be a better choice. im not hating on u im just explaining my thoughts on it.

there are PLENTY of people on this site that chose to build the KA having lots of money to invest in anything. I guess I just really dont see the point of arguing "why go KA-T" on a KA site.

thats like going to a fender guitar forum and telling someone they should really play a gibson if they want to be better.

i go back to my original statement/question. hopefully, importdps will be the one to answer. there is no argumentative stance in the question. i simply was curious of their logic/mindset/reasoning when setting out to build their drag car.

The KA engine originally started in Javy Ortiz (owner of Import DPS) little Datsun. They put that motor in the car and started going 9 seconds over 14-15 years ago. When the car stayed in puerto rico, he bought a white 240SX and started for street, then street and track, then track to then where you see it at today.

The goal was to stay with the stock engine and to push it harder than anybody has ever pushed it. If you set the bar high for yourself and fall a little short your going to find yourself on the winning end of alot of achievements. So pushing this hard, for this long to get consistent 7 second passes what is really the driving factor towards this car.

There are blueprints for Supra Swaps, Rotary's Etc. How many places have a blueprint for a KA-T... not many... Being different is sometimes better than the norm!

Hope that somewhat answered the question.
