2871r Camshafts Mods?

Post by RAMM »

Ok, so I just popped my first headgasket on my motor. Im sending the head to get o-ringed and am throwing around the idea of tossign a cam into the car.

IF i can get away with it, and be totally fine in a perfect world..is there a stage 1 cam out there that will allow me to use my existing OEM valvetrain and not need to upgrade to aftermarket (i.e. Supertech).

Cams im looking at:

Kelford Stage 1's (256/264) i believe
and Stage 1 JWT

Save me HUGE $$$ if its not needed and time.

Thanks,
Alex

Jwt s1's, Crower stage 2T, Brian Crower v2 and Kelford stage 1&2 all allow you to use stock springs and retainers.

If I had the money i'd go with kelford stage1 cams for a street setup.
If i didn't have the money i'd get Crower stage 2Ts

For a hwy monster or drag car can't go wrong with kelford or Jwt. I'd go with kelford just because they have a much better cam card.

Anywho..
I rock stock springs/retainers and jwt s1's. My car sees 7500rpms occasionally and 7300rpms daily.

BUMP!

Do i need to buy anything else other than Kelford Stage 2 cams for this upgrade? My head is in good shape..so no need for a valvetrain upgrade correct? Adjustable cam gear, or no?

Im still on the same turbo 2871r .86

I have a feeling my 2871r might be a tad small for the Kelford Stage 2's...maybe a Stage 1 would suit that turbo better. Im looking for more top-end power.

I'd go with the kelford stage 1's with a gt2871r

You shouldn't need cam gears, if the cams are made properly. Kelford is usually pretty good about it.
