Which brand of carbon fiber hood to go with????

Post by one23kid »

I am looking for your opinions on which Brand/manufacure of carbon fiber hoods are best to go with.

I've seen a couple I like but not sure who is better to go with.

Can anyone suggest a good brand/company to go with for a carbon fiber hood?

Cheers

I have heard good things from VIS. Just curious as to why you want a hood so bad. I would rather throw my money at the motor/turbo then worry about that later.

I'm not hungry for one now, just saw a couple of cars early this week and was qurious about which manufactures had good products. I had a thought of one day doing a CF hood and doing a black decal on the roof around the sun roof or paint the roof black.

Was just qurious basically thats all.

I also was wondering if anyone knows a reputable place online to purchase parts like body parts and such?

I would really appreciate the help.

Most carbon fiber hoods found in the US are just run of the mill fiberglass hoods with one sheet of CF and a **** load of gel-coat over the top to give ot the look. If you could find a fiberglass hood I would just go with that. If you just want the look, pick your poison.
Also, just about every fiberglass body piece that is made for an S-chassis will require modification for a good fit. There are a few that actually fit fresh out of the box, but that's just word on the street. I've had to modify higher priced items just as much as cheap items.

I have no recommendations, just advice.

Thanks, appreciate the advice/opinion.

I might go with VIS, we'll see. If I do go head ever with this I will make sure and post my experience with the hood installation.

thx guys

Since we're on the topic, what kind of weight saving can be had from your average (vis / siebon) carbon fiber hood compared to stock on a S14?
