engine bay clean up ideas??
so i looked under my hood to see where im gonna fit my turbo and wow... what a mess! i also found a pace setter after market header which i had no idea was there. But anyway, its like a pile of speghetti of wires running everywhere, battery where my intercooler piping needs to be, and just a cluster of stuff everywhere.
Are there any threads related to how to tidy up the engine bay? ive been looking but cant really find anything. any advice?

Ok thanks, just took out the entire intake system to get ready for the intercooler. I'll post a pic of the engine bay soon.

You have to put "img" tags at the beginning and end of the link. . You also need to remove anything in the link after ".jpg".

would start by getting rid of the egr stuff and catch can (clears up alot on the exhaust side). or at least relocating it

Degrease and pressure wash. Start eliminating wires later. Get her running first.

Ya that's definitely my first step, I've been working 14 hour shifts everyday but once Christmas hits, I'm gonna have a week off for just me and my car

^ I agree with what was said:
-degreaser... but be careful of electrical components
- Then instead of trying t do a massive wire cleanup all at once, just do a little bit at a time (each day).
I started to do this a while ago. First relocated the fan wires from on top of the fan shroud to below it (so couldnt see them from front view of engine bay). I unwrapped the injector harness (so it was more flexible, them re wrapped it as i threaded it underneath the runners for the intake manifold (suprisinngly, everything is long enough to do this, but I suppose one could lengthen the wires too). It was a squeeze, and not the easiest thing to do, but with a little persistence and readjustment of the wires it works : ]. Since the pics I've taken the throttle cable out from under the intake manifold bc it looked like it had a little tension on it.

As previously stated Id make sure that engine is running well before I took stuff out. But this should get you started. Take your time, and make sure you plug whatever vacuum lines you take out.

ok so i removed all that stuff, but the lines look like they go to the intake manifold. should i remove the intake manifold and plug the ports where they come from? or can i cut the lines and plug them so i dont have to take the intake manifold off? also, could i use one of those lines for my bov vaccuum line?

Yes those go to metal lines on the intake manifold and yes you can use those lines for wastegate and bov. However, if it was me I would take off the intake manifold and do the emissions delete also, but if you are planning on taking the engine out anytime soon id just wait to do it then. Since your trying to clean up the bay, and this is just my opiniion, but I like using a vacuum block for all the things requiring vacuum. If you read that link i put with the pic I posted for you it'll show you pics of everything and show you where everything is.

www.240sxtechdvds.org Get these movies. They will help you remove your emissions crap, as well as do anything else to your car.
