rebuilding block again. e85 this time?

Post by ATL240 »

I fried the pistons, and cracked the rings on my ka-t because of a bad tune. I'm rebuilding her again and this time I was thinking about running e85. I don't want to change my setup, except for a re-tune of course, how much power can I squeeze out as is ? I have:

810cc side feed injectors
255lph walbro
stock FPR
t3/t4 60 trim .63 AR

Might max out around 400whp. Injectors will hold you back from more power safely.

Not bad! I thought the walbro would max out first. I no you have been running e85 for a while now, how bad are the cold starts? And are you running regular fuel lines? Sorry I just started my research on e85. I'm excited haha

Actually that you point that out, I would buy a rising rate fpr. As for lines, I replace all the rubber lines in rear and front. Stock metal lines still there. No rust in my fuel filter. The coldest it gets here is around 40* but on a good week, it is around 55*. No issues with those temps.

A member here made 410hp on a walbro and e85.. The walbro maxed out right after that though.

I keep a set of ecu chips with my e85 tune in the glovebox.

I maxed my 880's out on 15 psi with my 60-1 turbo. You will be no where near 400 whp with 800cc. I switched to 1200cc and still on a single walbro. I don't have any adverse cold starts and I've been on e85 for over a year. I dyno'd a couple of weeks ago and did 370 wheel on 17 psi. No maxing of anything. I keep an eye on fuel pressure (in car gauge). I am still running all the stock rubber lines as well.

Just saying. Crank that FPR up with a decent size turbo.

I didn't think about running 60 psi of base pressure. I was running stock base.

The only place my car is really happy is around 50 base, so 60psi isn't absurd, just make sure your hoses/fittings are in good shape.

dont go cheap when its something that may mess up your engine

i wouldnt touch any replica fpr!

is saving $80-100 dollars worth the hassle of rebuilding engine?+more $ to fix

i ran stock fpr
walbro pump
850cc
and at 16psi it was 380whp 366 wtq
not maxing at all yet

mustang dyno? cuz a dynapack would be over 450. not that the number is more important then the curve though.
