Sounds like you just learned one of the most basic principles in engine design. Now keep reading as to how to make torque at higher rpm and apply it to understanding how a KA is limited.

I'm telling you man. KA24s are some of the best little 4bangers out there for boost. Long stroke + 2.4L displacement + piston oil squirters + iron block + low rpm power + 7k rpm + stock forged rods + indestructible crank = Turbo heaven!!

I wouldn't push more than 300whp on stock rods or pistons even though it can be done, lol.

I'd never boost in stock anything but that's just my personal preferance

Why? There are a TON of stock motors that handle high hp reliably.

Ford Mod motors
Chevy LS platform
2jz

and the list goes on...

How about talking about motors that were N/A, then converted to turbo. 1J and 2J as NA-T. LS, LM, LQ work as well. But as stated, then tune is the biggest thing.

Oh yeah, there can be some nasty stock-engine setups where adding boost can be hella safe.

There's a thread on here that links to an article where a team took a stock big block something and headed up and beyond 1000hp.

I'll search

I remember now :D

They even used the stock bearings/rings and made over 1000HP with it.
