stock ka rods arnt forged they are shot peened. i suppose to an extent they could be considered that but not true forged like aftermarkets.StatusQuo209 wrote:I'm telling you man. KA24s are some of the best little 4bangers out there for boost. Long stroke + 2.4L displacement + piston oil squirters + iron block + low rpm power + 7k rpm + stock forged rods + indestructible crank = Turbo heaven!!

I wouldn't push more than 300whp on stock rods or pistons even though it can be done, lol.

I'd never boost in stock anything but that's just my personal preferanceairman wrote:I wouldn't push more than 300whp on stock rods or pistons even though it can be done, lol.

Why? There are a TON of stock motors that handle high hp reliably.500hpKA240sx wrote:I'd never boost in stock anything but that's just my personal preferanceairman wrote:I wouldn't push more than 300whp on stock rods or pistons even though it can be done, lol.

How about talking about motors that were N/A, then converted to turbo. 1J and 2J as NA-T. LS, LM, LQ work as well. But as stated, then tune is the biggest thing.

Oh yeah, there can be some nasty stock-engine setups where adding boost can be hella safe.
There's a thread on here that links to an article where a team took a stock big block something and headed up and beyond 1000hp.
I'll search

They even used the stock bearings/rings and made over 1000HP with it.
