Exhaust: whats everyone running?

Post by Empire087 »

Just curious to what other people are running for exhaust. Im running a 2.5" downpipe with 3" back with a high flow cat, and a 18" glasspack. Im throwing so many codes from my emissions delete that im not even sure why im running the cat right now lol. Im thinking about adding a fart cannon of some sort, but i think it might look a little out of place on a truck. Any thoughts?

idk why ppl call an exhaust a fart cannon....a fart cannon IMP is what honda guys buy from auto zone for 20 bucks and have some dumb ass friend weld it on and its 5 inches wide and drags the ground

anyways im running a 4-1 header straight pipe to 3" exhaust with 4" tip

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WoUV7ysczL4
^this is when I had a gutted cat. but now i have a straight pipe which quieted it down a lot at idle but still sounds the same.

I'm running:

EMUSA Turbo Elbow
Megan Racing Downpipe
TopSpeed Test Pipe
APEXi Dual N1's.

Sounds pretty throaty, but not obnoxious.

I have full 3 inch eBay stuff and a 80mm Tanabe Super Medallion Racing. It sounds good and isn't too loud. The damn fart cannon style is getting old, though.

Ive got a 3" downpipe to cat to a 3" greddy Ti-C exhaust and I hate it. It is amazingly quiet (turbo'd) but it hangs so low and I scrape on bumps.

3 inch Emusa dp, 2.5 inch emusa midpipe, 3 inch emusa test pipe, 3 inch top fuel cat back with dual pipe muffler. It sounds VERY good. I've never had an exhaust on any of my cars sound this good. It hangs so low though, I need to get it buttoned up.

Metallic high-flow cat and a 3" Magnaflow, I think its one size bigger than the 11x14.

Dyno max is very similar to Magnaflow in sound but they will rust out after 2-3 years here in the north east.

For an exhaust I usually buy a few mandrel bends, a muffler, and go to an exhaust shop I trust. They have done a good job so far.

3 inch Test pipe to apexi GT 3 inch catback, 4.5 inch exit. Sounds good, but gets old on my 300 mile highway trips.

Once I go turbo I'm adding a 2.5 inch jgs pipe and a 3 inch down pipe

On my 2.5L Ford ranger I run 2.5" exhaust back to a 2.5" I/O chambered flowmaster style muffler. A chambered muffler is going to take alot of that nasty rasp out of a 4 cylinder exhaust note, not blow out like your glasspack style you have now and last for years. All while being cheap.

This is exactly what I have, and I would imagine you could find some place inconspicuous to hide it on your hard body. I even put a single chamber muffler on my brother's coupe, wedged it where the stock resonator went. If I remember I'll get my gopro out and record what it sounds like.

Had an offbrand header and downpipe, test pipe, and a Buddy Club Spec II. This was very loud, and not convenient for 10hr drives to Ohio.
Swapped the Spec II for Apexi N1 Duals, absolutely love it. My car has a great KA tone to it, no drone at all either.

ebay 3" exhaust + 4" "muffler" (lol)

when turbo setup is done, it will be a 3" downpipe I'm gonna weld together, but for now I have an obx header. The car sounds terrible :( it was the main motivation to do the turbo stuff now.

3" all the way, 2 resonators (baffled box and straight thru) and a suburban muffler, ive also got a vband halfway down my exhaust if i want to hit up the drag strip.

Sounds low and throaty.. I just had the 2.5 pipe and an autozone 2.5 muffler before, it droned pretty badly.

On my N/A s14 I have a 4-2-1 header to non-resonated test pipe to cx racing 3"-to-2.5" duals.

^ Sounds great at idle and mid range/half pedal. When getting on it you get that really annoying loud n/a raspy sound, however I must say its b/c my car is so low i destroyed the resonator in the cx racing cat back part and deleted it w/a flex pipe so it would sound probably good if it weren't for that.

Ony my KAT s14 I had egay mani/turbo w/custom 2.5" downpipe to non-resonated test pipe to Espelir GT 500 3" setup. Sounds f-ing awesome at idle and getting on it. Even when the car was N/A it sounded nice and deep.

However you have a truck and if I am reading correctly everyone including myself have s chassis'.......On your truck your current setup sounds fine but if you dont want to have a N1 style "fart cannon" as you call it or importish looking muffler (I have seen one on a hardbody that was lowered w/euro lights and I SMH every time i saw it,plz dont do it) on a truck which i agree with get like a magnaflow pan style muffler and just do some kind of cool setup for the outlet like a nice stainless blast pipe or a bus style turndown? GL either way dude.

Im running a apexi n1 with straight pipe. Starts off at 3” than after the resonator turns into 3.5” awesome sound no power loss compared to open downpipe
