What guages are you all running?
What guages are you all running?
I will post more details of the Ka-t I am working on in the near future. It was a former members that I have been put in charge of finishing. It will have in the 450+ range and I want to make sure I am aware of any problems as soon as they arise. Boost, oil pressure are musts of course. But how many of you run EGT, Wideband 02 etc?

AEM series two with all AEM Gauges.
Any will work as long as it works. Besides, if you have a bad tune, or something goes wrong, you won't be always able to save it even if you do see it. It depends on when and what goes wrong. Temperature, heat, things like that often take longer then lets say a crazy lean mixture at 7500rpm.

Completely understand that. Things happen fast, especially with boosted motors. I want to give myself the best fighting chance. I know some companies make individual cylinder EGT probes and motoring systems, just curious if they are utilized in these type of applications and if there is anything else I am missing. There is a great deal of money tied up in this build, and I would hate to see it go south because I was not keen enough to have proper engine management instruments installed.
Currently im only running 2 gauges, an AEM wideband and an Autometer boost gauge. The wideband is probably the best thing I could have ever bought for my car. Its nice to know your air fuels when you go to bump up your boost a bit for those nights where your cars running really good. (personally not my method but I have a few friends that would do that) After owning a wideband I probably wouldn't own another boosted car without one.
I plan on buying more gauges in the future but im only pushing around 300hp and my motor has had a nice life (230k miles). Once that goes Ill get a bunch more gauges.

i have autometer gauges (ultralite) in the car at the moment, dont really care for the night time lighting in them, but they look nice during the day.
primaries:
water temp, oil pressure, wideband
extras:
boost/vac gauge
oil temp
with megasquirt, i have my digital gauges set up for:
rpm, boost/pressure, coolant temp, wideband, voltage.
soon as I get ms3 in, will be adding oil pressure and fuel to the digital cluster. will be dropping the stock cluster from the car as soon as i have a fuel gauge and just run one big rpm gauge and the digital display next to it.

Ultra gauge w/rpm, water temp, timing, mpg, trip meter, instant mpg, avg mpg, and just about every other gauge I would like.

Oil pressure and wide bands are a must. Water temp, oil temp and boost are extras. Autometer phantom and plx. Im also not crazy about my backlighting.
My wife "haven't you spent enough time and money on that car yet?" my answer "no"

Nice gauge layout. The only thing I hate about having gauges there, is your eyes tend to wander. I have mine on the a pillar. I know it is fast and furious days but at least my peripheral vision still picks up obstacles if they appear.
I have boost/vacuum, wb02, and oil pressure. I need to pick up a water temp gauge.

I put a WBO2 bung in my oil pan and I use a cheap full sweep water temp gauge for oil temp, works great.
Having them down low helps not blind you, along with hiding them.. I need to install some resistors or bulb caps to dim them down a little. You can also hook them up to your stock dimmer switch.

It's the one joy to obd2, it's a little slow for rpm, but its a great tool to keep the wiring down. It plugs into the obd2 port on factory cars.Jmoore124 wrote:How do you like the ultragauge and from where does it get its input signals?

Thanks for all the help you guys. I already had a zeitronix data logger, so I went with the Zeitronix LCD display that displays EGT,AFR, ambient temp, and Boost. Although the greddy electronic boost controller already has one, redundancy is a good thing right?
Wannabethestig: is that panel something you made yourself? I know mine is slightly different, I have a double din HU. I like that setup. That is where I have my gauges in my 9 3.

AEM Wideband
GlowShift Boost Gauge
Next up will be an oil pressure gauge. Might stick with AEM to continue the theme but I reallllllly like the Pro Sport ones and they're affordable as well.

Yes i built it myself. Used some wood i had laying around. Used the old.beatup tywrapped one as a template and arranged everything a couple of different ways before i settled on this. Ended up taking it apart again because i couldnt get the wood finish to look the way i wanted. It Was also a good excuse to rewire the rats nest that was behind there. The wood allowed me to recess the 12v too btw.
