hx35

Post by shift_down »

Where did most of you guys pick up your hx35s from, and kind of turbo is it incomparable to? I'm really starting to think about switching over.

I got one from here on this forum. It was a blessing if you ask me. It is similar to a GT35. Do the switch, come to the dark side. I will probably never go back to tnetics or any expensive turbo. Holset for the money and durability.

Also read up on hy35, he351 and I think there is another one that spools fast and has good power. They have hx40,50,52, and 60 but those are big fawkers.

I see an HX here and there on craigslist for $300-500 depending on model/condition. But I ended up getting my HX35 on here for a good price.

cummings forums/dodge truck forums

you can get a good hx35 for 200 bucks if you try and a hy35 for just a few bucks more(totally worth it for the extra spool)

DEFINITELY get HY if your running 20psi or less. Its the same wheels in a smaller housing. the housing does not limit the flow untill you reach serious power, so it will have no negative effects for pump gas type applications and will get you full boost well before 3500. the hy pretty much kills itself much past 22psi which is where the hx really shines.

I think 300 would take it off my hands. Forgot I had posted here. I will pull it out and get some pictures of it if you want. . Its in good shape, like I said it was pulled from a 2005 Cummins that was running fine. It had something like 45k on it when pulled. Friends dads truck (babied)

Just a question about hx35's since someone from zilvia is selling one for $300 and he said from his knowledge it hasn't been used. But anyways I have been doing my research on these turbos and I was told external WG is mandatory since the internal WG can't necessarily control the boost that well. I am basically trying to decide which turbo is best for my first build. I am debating external or internal WG since external will cost more but much better results.

You will need external gate. The internal is good but opens up at 20psi.

Couldn't you get a new actuator that opened at a different psi? Actuators are pretty standard afaik
