Fel pro head gasket limit 10mm studs
Fel pro head gasket limit 10mm studs
Getting ready to have my car dynoed and looking to hit 500hp on e85 but just wondering if the fel pro and 10mm studs would be a concern on that power level. I'm thinking I can hit that power with 20-23 psi on my turbo. They are the ka24de studs arp 2000 not the Saturn studs. Precision 6262 .82 a/r, full proefi standalone with flex fuel, fic 2150cc, walbro 416lph hard wired . Thanks in advance it's just stressing me thinking about it. Had my fair share of head lifting from bad tunes to bad injectors.

At 500whp I would begin worrying about the head gasket. Several people have reported 500whp on a plain Felpro but I don't know how long it will be reliable.

Cosworth head gaskets on sale for $110 - a steal. I bought one myself and I don't even have a 240 right now.

Well I kept stock head gasket because everybody claimed bad experiences with cometic if surfaces were not prepped for it. And my surfaces were not prepped. Maybe I could have got away with it but I didn't want to chance it. Plus my friend duncan351 has used fel pros forever and has no problems granted he's on 11mm head studs. But thanks for the replys. Thanks for the link on the cosworth gaskets. Might give that a shot. I might have to do another motor for that gasket.

Can you do it? Sure. Should you do it? Ehh maybe, maybe not. Like others said, you can but why risk it? Grab a cometic or a cosworth and get everything smoothed out so you can have a smooth mating surface. Either that or run 11mm headstuds instead. In a perfect world where money doesn't matter, both of those is ideally what you want.

My 500whp held for few summers, and I beat on the car alot. But once I went over 600 it started leaking. But I'm also on 11mm head bolts. I also leaned out few pulls on the highway with felpro(1 fuel pump burned out) but put in new pump and still finished the summer without any problems. If you have everything on and ready to go i would say just stick with felpro.

Thanks berserker I was hoping you would chime in. Yeah as of right now fel pro and 10mm studs are all I have. I shoulda my surfaces prepped but maybe I can take 1200 grit sand paper and prep it or just do another block for it. Just wanted to see if it'll hold for right now. My tuner is a well respected tuner here so he said he'll just take it easy on the timing and well try and make the power with boost.

I have been pushing a fel pro paper gasket for over 3 years and past 30psi with 11mm head studs. Never replaced the head gasket. Just a little secret, its all in the tune. If you are blowing headgaskets then your are detonating. Stay out of detonation, you won't blow the head gasket.

Awesome to hear...for I only run a fel-pro to let me know if something is wrong. A good failsafe in my book.duncan351 wrote:I have been pushing a fel pro paper gasket for over 3 years and past 30psi with 11mm head studs. Never replaced the head gasket. I tried to order on of these on April 7th. Charge never posted to my credit card. On the 10th I see some random charge for $395 to radioshack.com. This is a fraudulent website. BEWARE I received an order confirmation, but can't check the status and it says the online store has been temporary closed. Just a heads up for anyone else who thought this was too good to be true. It definitely is.airman wrote:Cosworth head gaskets on sale for $110 - a steal. I bought one myself and I don't even have a 240 right now.

How about that. Explains the ~$750 that they tried to charge to Macy's and Snowboarding gear.mewantkouki wrote:I tried to order on of these on April 7th. Charge never posted to my credit card. Oh well...WTB Cosworth gasket...need to dispute the charge for the actual head gasket though.
Edit - looks like they took that one off too. Thanks Chase
