Upping boost on a rom tune?

Post by motteram »

I know that on SR's you can just shim the wastegate and your good for 10-14 psi on a stock ecu and whatnot. But anybody with a ROM tuned KA-T such as JWT ecu or Enthalpy, have you guys every upped the boost without a reflash? My tune is for a t-25 on 7lbs. And I'm wondering if I can just up to to 10lbs without sending my ecu back for a reflash and still be alright? I have a wideband of course but haven't had the balls to shim it yet. This car is my daily lol.

Most Rom tunes come alittle rich so you might get away with it. Just watch your afrs and don't let it lean out. You could also pick up a piggyback system to help aid the extra boost.

I have one that pulls all timing once it hits the end of the map for safety. Post it up and let some of the guys take a look at it. They are all different, but as said before that most of them are safe.

yeah thats what I do leave a couple column of overboost so to speak. it ensures if a wg fails you will hopefully not blow up before you notice.

Totally depends on the tune.
Wiseco/Eagle, JWT S1 cams, BC valve springs, PT5857, ID1700 injectors, SR20DET ECU w/ Nismotronic, COP conversion with LS ignition coils, etc, etc...

for that tune, with that setup, you will have no problem increasing the boost that much. most other comments are vague and apply to tuning in general. in this case, you will be fine.
