Head swap ? Sohc 2 Dohc
Head swap ? Sohc 2 Dohc
Ok I got a steal on a mint low mile no rust second owner 90 s13. But it's sohc I live in mn so there isn't to many junk yards around with ka dohc, I can find heads tho . So I was wondering if its possible to throw a dohc on my single if the block is diff ect. Thanks
It might bolt up, but the front covers are too different to consolidate to do a Frankenstein DOHC/SOHC block/head assembly.
Heads definitely have to match! I'm sure someone could pull it off one day, but it definitely wouldn't be easy.

Don't do it. Far too many complications starting off from basic timing. It's just not a thing to do. If it was easy you would hear about it and see it more. If you dig deep enough through a Google search you'll discover somebody who tried it and had issues and also advised not to do it.

Wait for a deal to pop up. I'm sure you'll find a complete motor, you just need to be patient.

Getting a DOHC would be a much, much cheaper alternative with less hassle.
