Realistic 450hp+ Build Help.

Post by picsbypenny »

"Wild 425+ Build

Turbo Manifold (Reinforced Ebay)
Blow Off Valve (Greddy RS, Probably buying a new one)
T3/T04E 50 Trim .48/.63 (have, but getting PTE6262)
external wastegate. (Tial 38, Buying a new one this was used and might have a problem)
FMIC Larger 12"x24"x3" for the core. (greddy VSPL fabbed to fit, Might buy a new one)
Downpipe 3" (emusa elbow to MR 3in dp)
Exhaust 3" (APEXi Dual N1, might get blastpipes)

Block Internals (everything is stock)
Forged Rods
Forged Pistons
Stock Crank
Plus your typical rebuild items.
Along with the previously mentioned internals I would add these to the list
Cams (per your discretion)
Build your head as well
Valve Springs
Valve Retainers
ARP Head/Main Studs
Cometic Headgasket or similar

Fuel Control
Standalone fuel management (megasquirt PNP MS2)
720cc Injectors. (ID 1000's Walbro 255)
Wideband O2 Sensor is necessary for tuning.(Innovate MTXL)"

Okay here's the thing. I was doing this, but used cheap and used parts, mostly name brand but probably worn. I also didn't build my block.

So I'm starting over and want opinions on long block parts that will support my PTE6262 Build. Above is a condensed version of the dummy thread with what I have next to it.

Thanks for any help!

I dont see anything wrong with the setup as long as the parts arent crazy worn. A 50 trim on a stock block with the right tune will do fine, maybe look into getting a new felpro with some head studs and you should be golden.

You will want to build your block forsure. Depends on your budget but if you want to build your block go with something like this

block

http://realstreetperformance.com/store/ ... 4l-30.html

+ head+main studs ARP and something like clevite bearings and h/g

in terms of building your head a close friend built his KA using this for his head with same power goals 264 cams + all the other goodies and its working out really well for him..

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Brian-Crower-Sta ... 0329122615

His tranny went a few months after he got it going so that could be a weak point if your staying stock tranny and drive shaft. Now hes got a z32 trans and its been taking a beating and is holding up great

Good luck im going for the same power and similar turbo and ms2 so we will have similar setups. :)

Im thinking 720s will be good for more like 350 on corn.. Add 30% to your injector size that an online calculator tell you. You need some monster injectors for huge power. You can turn up the fuel pressure for a little more out of them too.

The walbro255 will supposedly max out around the same time the 720s do. Dual walbros arent the safest because if one pump goes out (and it happens) its not obvious until you lean out at 20+psi boost. Just something else to consider

I maxed out my walbro around 425hp with e85. Had to dial it back to 18psi 410hp to be on the safe side. Of course every dyno reading is different, this was on a dyno dynamics. What about running the walbro 450lph e85 compatible version. I think its about double the price though.

Awesome to have real numbers for these things. Was it on stock fuel pressure? I just got an adjustable FPR, i will be looking for an e85 compatible upgrade for my walbro in a while.

The walbro 450lph e85 compatible is 138 shipped with the 'install kit' on ebay.. not bad

I use an aeromotive fpr, but if i recall it was near stock pressure. I have the regular walbro 255 and never had any issues with e85, but always good to be on safe side and get the new compatible one. There are fake walbro's out there, I would order one from a source I trusted if my budget allowed for it.

You will need larger fuel lines for over 550whp on gasoline and 400whp on E85.

Turbo Manifold (Reinforced Ebay)
Blow Off Valve (Greddy RS, Probably buying a new one)
T3/T04E 50 Trim .48/.63 (have, but getting PTE6266)

Exhaust 3" (APEXi Dual N1, might get blastpipes)

Block Internals (everything is stock)
Forged Rods
Forged Pistons

Stock Crank ( got it )
Cams (turboholic's 264/264)
Build your head as well
Valve Springs
Valve Retainers

ARP Head/Main Studs (got it)
Cometic Headgasket (got it)

Fuel Control
Standalone fuel management (megasquirt PNP MS2)
720cc Injectors. (ID 1000's Walbro 255)
Wideband O2 Sensor is necessary for tuning.(Innovate MTXL)

I had an A1000 but needed some money so I sold it. I still have a 255, but I'm sure it wont be able to hang with my ID1000s; so what pump do yall recommend for corn? I'm also thinking about running -6AN fuel line all the way, but I think it might be too big, any opinions? What are the best bang for the buck rods pistons and rings for the KA? I want to over build the block a bit for when I turn it up. Do I need to build the head ie. valve retainers and springs?

All input so far is greatly appreciated!

What does "450+" mean? You want 500, 600? or just 450?

I made 450whp on a BW S256 (GT30R equiv.) with 850cc injectors on pump with AEM meth kit.
Stock head (everything) with minor clean up and valve job.
Build short block. Wiseco, Eagle., ARP etc.

-6 will be good for e85.
