boost on felpro head bolts?
curious, i know the goto is the arp head studs and was for me as well, but how many people here actually run boost on regular head bolts? and what kind of boost are you hitting

Re: boost on felpro head bolts?
Yeah i got up to about 10-14 and lifted the head with e85 and a bunch of timing. This was with head bolts that were reused at least twice
For the cost of the head bolts (20-40) i'd rather put it towards head studs (80) since they dont torque to yield and can be reused

Re: boost on felpro head bolts?
am debating if i should use the felpros for ~12-15psi of boost. this would be on pump gas with regular timing (have the curse of no local e85)
different engine, same bolt size as the ka.
difference is, for the lsx engines, the arp studs are ~300$ vs 30$ for a set of felpros. have a few things i would rather spend the money on if i could (i.e. valve springs and a cam) and get the arp's down the line if i can get away with it.

Re: boost on felpro head bolts?
I didn't use fel-pro's, but I did use oem new head bolts on my last t3/to4e setup at 16-18 psi.
I don't know where the fel-pro's are made however. Hate for it to be quality on par with the american/mexican replacement timing components.

Re: boost on felpro head bolts?
I like the Felpro HG, but I steer CLEAR from their headbolts (Taiwan made). I had one stretch like like taffy when I was torquing it to 60 pounds.Get OEM or ARP. The Victor Reinz are the same Taiwan source most likely.

Re: boost on felpro head bolts?
I ran OEM headbolts on 14ps for about 11 years before the headgasket popped. Fuel pump died and I went lean.
