What would YOU like to see manufactured??

Post by S14wayz »

Hey guys and gals,

Im currently working on some ideas for my Mechanical Engineering capstone project and thought I'd see if any of you KA-T'rs had any input. Basically I'm going to be designing, prototyping, and producing a final product on something car related, and perhaps KA/Nissan related. Now my question for you guys is: Is there anything that you guys would love to see in production that isn't available at the moment? Any ideas that you guys have had in the back of your mind that would actually want to see go into production? Im sure some of you guys have some really good ideas and would not like to share them and I totally respect that but anyone that does please feel free to post up! Anything helps!! Thank youuuu :)

Biggest one I've seen interest in lately is a ka24 oil pan at a 240 owners price(reasonable).

An intake manifold that doesn't look home made with sexy curves. Even eBay sells nice looking intake manifolds for Sr20. All of our excessive and other home made don't have those sexy curves like the aftermarket Sr mani. Gato Mani looks good but pricey. you can buy Sr radiator, piping, manifolds, intake and exhaust for a small fraction of what Ka stuff cost? Even eBay ka items are priced higher than sr..smh

More tranny options....or cheaper options to adapt other transmissions....z32 swap kits are so expensive, the tranny itself is getting harder to find at a good price....perhaps something to adapt vq35 trannys at a fair price. or any six speed for that matter that will fit.

Definitely another plus one for a z33 trans adapter. When my current trans goes out, I'm skipping z32 and going straight to z33.

great ideas.. I completely agree with the transmission, trying to find a z32 then having to spend $1000 just to mount it and then if anything went wrong with it again another pain in the ass to find cheap parts (or parts alone) to fix it. I really like the idea with the oil pan..that's going to be easy to model too. Appreciate all the replies!! Stay posted :)

And cheaper kits for a trans would be great.

And a new affordable drop in style billet stroker crank would be great. I've had this idea in my head that with a good set of 1000 hp rods and wisecos new hd 1600hp pistons, those new pistons might be able to withstand the piston travel at a decent rev limit. Not to thread jack.

Titanium valves under 500$
&
Aluminum pulley sets! Ac, ps, water pump .alternator.

Aluminum (idler? Connects top and bottom timing) pulley . That would be well desired. Sell it with a
Longer bolt too, the stock one doesnt catch enough threads and likes to strip.

why would you want an aluminum idler...the life of it wouldnt be very long the teeth would wear out, and hard clutch kicks or dumps would run the risk of breaking them off...i would think anyways.

a bracket to mount lsx ignition coils to the valve cover would be an easy one to make

adapter brackets for mounting standard fuel pressure regulators (like the common aeromotive ones) to the stock intake or to the strut tower

a ducting kit for the stock bumper that seals the radiator to the front bumper opening

You know that little plastic idle air control plug on KA's (i think there are maybe 2 or 3 versions s13ka,vs s14ka maybe?), but THIS! Pleeeaaasse?

Image
Image

It would need to be brass or something softer than the material than what it is threading into and have the head of this be for a flat head type screwdriver (the o ring seal we could pick up separately). The stock version of this is pretty junk- plastic and with a hex key head for adjustment which just strips. A metal adjustment valve screw that could be adjusted with a flathead screw would be soo much more durable.

There's a machine that can make virtually almost anything within its dimension, it's a 3-d print machine, aka 3-d manufacturing. I'd support a manufacturing company dedicated to the engineering and manufacturing of custom parts. A lot of custom or replacement parts can be made. Sensors namely, intake and tb spacers, and hard to find or hard to improve parts. Possibilities should be limitless
