My opinion = Extra wear on turbo for no reason. How much? I dont have a clue, air reverting back through it cant be good.
It does sound cool

I mean, it sounds cool and all, and if I had the coin to replace the turbo every couple of months I'd probably do it...
Lol. Jk. Bad idea. Only diesel guys run no BOVs. I'm sure some other guys do it too, doesn't make it a good idea.

I have run across a few threads were guys have run without a bov. There are benefits to having one, but the theory that it is ok is not widely excepted, my thoughts are if you run an anti surge it would help the situation. Also, when the air surges backwards against the compressor the compressor is under no load other than it's own inertia which isn't much, this only loads the thrust surface that doesn't usually see load, only when surging. I don't think its that bad for the turbo,

idk why you wouldn't run a BOV. All that extra pressure from the turbo needs to go somewhere once the throttle closes and you'll just wear the turbo much quicker running without one. If you cant afford a real BOV you can use one of those bosch diverters and just recirculate it back into the system. I ran one of those on my s13 for years
