i have had ideas lately about using a midplate on my build when it gets serious. i notice alot of guys using these 1/2" flywheel spacers with the 1/2" trans adaptor plates, couldnt i use the flywheel spacer and make up a 1/2" midplate and get rid of the cradle and side mounts?
not sure why anyone hasnt done this. some of the big horsepower guys should invest in some ideas like this, or maybe follow rosado and go with an electric water pump. lotsa cool things you can do..... i've been trying to get innovative with the ka24de and figure out ways to maximize efficiency a reduce harmonic effects etc. props to greaser for coming up with the mechanical timing tensioners
ps- front mount turbo and side exit exhaust

Re: ka24det midplate
I'm not exactly sure what a midplate is, but I know that the flywheel spacer is overall something to be avoided. Several people have sheared the flywheel bolts off using the Xcessive kit. Educate me on midplstes though... what is it and what is its intended purpose?

Re: ka24det midplate
mostly for domestic applications. the v8 guys that make 500+ have been using them forever. also engine plates, which mount on the front.
midplates and engine plates are "engine mounts" on the front and back of the engine that more securly hold it in place instead of side mounts flexing your block under power.

Re: ka24det midplate
I've seen that before, just didn't know what it was called. Even the Mazworx swap kit uses an adapter plate that I am sure you could incorporate into a midplate. Very interesting idea.
