Manifolds comparison. JGS vs ETD. Tubular vs. Log

Post by zenkizen »

ok i made the mistake on buying a SSAC manifold when i have a DOHC, ABS/BMC, and a standard turbo.

i'm looking into a JGS or ETD log manifold
ETD also makes a short tubular manifold that i'm very interested in.

debating if i should go log or tubular. is there a major difference? i've read somewhere that tubular manifolds can give +60 hp than log manifolds.

i called JGS and they don't have any ka24de manifold in stock at the moment.

anywho i really like the tubular manifold ETD makes.

any CASE? (comments advice suggestions experiences)

I made the mistake of buying a manifold and not asking all the right questions. Like, will it work on my auto car with abs? I think all companies should state what specific car a product was designed around. Now I'm stuck with a $650 paperweight... :x

I think JGS is your best bet-that's who I finally went with (should have been my first choice). I know they're on back-order, but it's worth the wait.
Good luck,
Alex

ive been running my revhard mani for a year now with no problems..iono about a 60hp gain..im making 355whp/363tq on a log at 17lbs on pump so iono..i know tubular manis are better but i cant justify spending a lot of money on one when a $300 revhard is getting the job done just fine

You really won't see big gains unless you're comparing log style to an equal length tubular design (like Full-Race). Log is pretty inefficient especially at upper RPMs.

Top of the thread that I posted below, has a comparison using a Civic. Scroll half way through for 240sx with SR20 comparison.

I know JGS will have at least one DOHC manifold in the next couple days. I just sent one back to them. They sent me the wrong one seeing as I am SOHC.

haha I own that ETD mani now. Everything fits well. Car will be up and running in 2-3 weeks. BTW I made 412rwhp @ 18lbs on a BD mani I should make more as the BD has a crack in it, haha. Your over all setup is more important.

The ETD Greddy replacement log is a great manifold. Places the turbo very far forward and low for better MC and hood clearance (like the JGS). If JGS is backordered, then try an ETD.... I've been running the first one John ever made in my car for over a year now problem free.

Haha. I hated digging the oil out from my nails, so I finally wised  up and bought a few pairs of disposable gloves .
