2871r Breaking Up Under B00ST!

Post by RAMM »

Setup:
2871r
NIStune
Z32 MAF
Stock Plug Wires
BRK7E
OEM Distributor
15psi
Built Block
O-Ringed Head

So i did a few pulls the other day and it was breaking up pretty good under boost. I would say it did it around 3-4 times. So i stopped obviously, and let the car cool and off brought it back to the shop.

How detrimental could that be on my setup/motor?

Im going to be upgrading my spark plug wires (Magnecore 10mm), and installing new plugs. Along with getting a re-tune once the weather clears up some more.

Is there any way you could do some datalogging with Nistune and post it? I'd say it's something like spark blowout. What happens if you lower the boost a little bit?

What are your plugs gapped to? Did this start happening recently or has it been an ongoing issue?

I guess it could be boost leak, what are your AFRs?

taking it to the tuner once the weather clears up a little bit and i'll be able to diagnose it easier over there.

He'll probably blow the motor, and then join the army of retards who hate on KA's for no good reason.

i run stock plug wires and have no problems with breaking up. i seriously think its just a boost leak.

Tuning, boost leak or timing.
I also run the stock wires and never had problems

KABOOM!

My CP Pistons #1/3 are warped. Time for new pistons and a slight rebuild.

New tune also!

Warped probably because of heat - maybe knock was what was perceived as "breaking up", it was actually just "breaking" :P

sorry to hear that though :/
