4 to 5 lug conversion...Contano brand?

Post by El_Cangri »

Here is the link. How can it be so cheap when compared to the Ichiba? Is it good because I will jump on them if you guys say so...

lol thats freaking cheap.

could always just get an oem set of bearings to throw in them, they had to cut corners doing something at that price, even stock would cost that much to machine the hubs

Yeah that is what I'm thinking. They look good but the price doesn't
convince me... Maybe they will break after some abuse...

I'll let you know how they are, my dad bought them for me, lol his cheap way out.
they feel like they can take abuse though, once my wheels get here i'll throw them on and toss em around and see if they hold up

I bought ichiba rears and they look the same. Hopefully the ichiba and the contano are decent. I am just waiting to buy rims before I throw them on.

I just took them out of the package and threw them on the car. I don't recall getting any extra bolts. Everything seems fine. I thought one of them had prematurely failed, but it turned out to be that my lower balljoint was about to fall apart. I'm happy with my investment so far.

Definitely let us know how they pan out. I was concerned when I was going 5-lug because of the center bore on them. Your rotors, or wheels wont center right on them if they aren't right.
But like others said, worst case is press in an OEM bearing. Should be good to go.

Are you guys using stock brakes with 300zx rotors or what? Seems like a real good deal. I'd like to see how these are after a few thousand miles
extra bolts are just weight reduction.

You can drill the stock rotors to make them fit.

Or buy s14 ones.

you cannot use stock rotors with z32 brakes but like said above drill out. I drilled out my j30 rotors to work with 4 lug.

Yup, just drill the holes a bit bigger to take into account some slight error. The rotors center on the hub, so no big deal on making the stud holes a bit bigger.
Unless I'm missing the conversation, disregard my nonsense lol

I used stock s14 rotors on the rear, and went and grabbed a set of j30 calipers/brackets/rotors for the front.

I bought my 5 lug hubs off ebay years ago and put probably 20k+ miles on them. 75 launches on the track with slicks, a few trips to deals gap (5 hour one way) many passes up and down deals gap and a wreck where the majority of the weight of the car landed on one wheel kinda sideways..... and mine still ride smooth. We just put a set on my dad's car. :)

The rears are a pain but once the 4 bolts are out, nothing a maul can't take care off. I have been running on mine for three weeks and no issues.

Remove brakes and brackets. I had to disconnect upper control arm, toe control arm, other arm as well as take off axle nut, rear strut. Pop out the driveshaft and use an impact gun to remove for bolts. Hit hub until it pops out then install by doing reverse. It is simple just more stuff to move.

I have all 4 on my s13 vert for about a year now daily driving. Some roads around here are nasty but they still hold up fine. Nothing loose and no noises. I've had Ichibas before, you can't really tell the difference.

sorry to bump an old topic - but i'm looking for updates on these. Those who have these and have had them for a while - what are your thoughts?

additionally - I cannot tell form the pictures on either their website or the ebay ad for these - but do they use a clip to hold the bearing in like the OE applications?
