Scarring on camshaft.

Post by DrEaMeR_VaNg »

I picked up a used set of Kelfords and the intake camshaft has scarring on it.

Would this affect the cam in any way?

And are Kelfords' stamped? I don't see a stamp on either camshafts.

I have some pretty nasty scars on a few sets of my stockers. They look worse than they really are. Probably some 300+ grit of emery cloth to make sure they don't eat the heads.

Hope you guys don't mind if I bump this.

Bought a set of cams of FleaBay and the genius wrapped them together.
Was wondering if this cam is still useable. The nicks aren't too deep but has ridges and was wondering if it was even worth putting in?

I would send those things back faster than you got them if you can get your $$ back

^ I don't think yours are that bad. Look at the very first journal on his right behind the sprocket.

My cams had some light scratching on the journals. As long as they are radial scratches that you can't feel with your fingernail you should be fine. Axial scratches would worry me.

Damn they look like sh*t. You could polish the nicks scratches out. but is that gonna effect clearance on the cam? Putting it in as it is will gouge your head and caps. I would send them back, but if that is not an option emery cloth and some patience.
