Don't put your hardware in a dirty hole! ARP install trick

Post by franman »

I'm sure this is not a new idea to most of you, just thought i'd share this simple little DIY trick with my favorite message board! Great free way to prep threads before installing new hardware such as ARP head studs, main studs, rod bolts etc.

Hope this helps someone :)

Same here. Taps are pretty cheap. But for someone who doesn't have a tap set and doesn't feel like buying any, this looks like a good idea.

another plus to this method is the bolt will always be long enough to reach the bottom what ever you may be cleaning out. (thinking of head bolts/studs here)

Can't go wrong with a good set of taps though! ;)

I used this technique on my roommate's DSM. Worked great for me. Lots of crud came out. I ran it in twice with a healthy dose of carb cleaner after each run-in.
