car making weird electrical noise
car making weird electrical noise
hey guys i was on my first or second road test and my car proceeded to make a transformer like noise from the driver side dash or steering column
i have no clue on what the noise is but think it could be seat belt buzzer because i no longer have the factory seatbelt on the driver side
just hit me with ideas
trying to figure this out and i hate electrical problems

If your brake light and battery light are on then its alternator going out. Mine is currently "buzzing" whenever I lift of the gas. If neither light is on I would check the alternator or grounds

fixing some other issues lately found out that alternator is probably bad because i fixed dash lights and now my ebrake light and battery light are on even though the battery light is barely visible when its dark
gonna replace alternator and hope for the best. i really hope that the stupid buzzing from the smj area goes away

this is a known S13 demon as far as I know. My S13 had it. It has nothing to do with the alternator. I don't think I ever fixed it.
My extremely blurry memory from 5-6 years ago tells me it has something to do with a ground that grounds a ton of different things like the dome light and such.... maybe not..... Something tells me I gave up when I realized I had to pull the dash to see all of the wiring involving this one common ground..... again.... maybe not.

I'm still going through the same thing. When I get time I'm going through the wiring harness diagram and finding out exactly what all is linked to the battery/brake light on the cluster. It's definitely a ground, though. Bouncy road = more flashing. Idle/smooth road = a lot less.
