+2 for thermostat. Are you blowing any white smoke or anything out the exhaust? Check basics first too...coolant level, ect. Most people overlook it and its a simple fix. Let the car idle and warm up with radiator cap off for a few minutes too, see if you get any air bubbles. You can sometimes also see if the coolant starts flowing when it gets warmed up when the thermostat opens. If nothing is happening after the car is heated up, another indicator you could have a bad thermostat.
If its worth doing, its worth overdoing.

Between thermo and air bubble. Did you do anything to the coolant lately?

these cars can be quite challenging to get the cooling systems totally full and airfree. I go through it everytime I have to drain the cooling system. Ive had good luck backfilling the engine first but most of the problem comes from the heater hose system.

I can attest stock radiator is simple but the CX takes awhile. Heater on full blast still has one or two bubbles after 10 minutes.

hmmm ..maybe its just my S14 then. I was more or less pointing out that it is a little more finicky than some to get totally full...but then again the OP hasnt indicated that he has had the system open ....just a suggestion.

Very true. If system untouched for more than a month, then thermostat. If touched. Then air bubble.

Is the fan running backwards? Is this a new build? Was it not running hot and then right out of nowhere start running hot ? Need more info OP 8) If indeed the car does not run hot at idle then I would lean away from it being a thermostat but with such limited info its hard to say.

You guys are making this way too hard. Install a radiator breather tank, it does the bleeding for you.

For anyone living in a hot climate, why do you even run a thermostat? I'd remove it completely.

Nismo Thermostat. Do it. One of the best cheap upgrades ive made and it'll save your engine.

When it sticks it won't save your engine.

no thermostat for the win, i do run the outer ring from a oem one though, it restricts the flow just enough to work properly when warm.

why pay like 50 bucks for somthing thats rebadged oem stuff?

I like this idea. Now it takes about 5-7 minutes of idle to hit 15. Stays around 13.7-14 majority of the time.

+20 for air in system. Lift the front end sometimes helps get the bubbles out too.

FYI - Both the OEM and Nismo thermostat break open, and not closed like VatoZone and Oreallys brand knock offs. Worse that will happen if it breaks is your car runs cold, like a deleted thermostat.

I'm sure someone will tell me its dumb to trust that happening, but its inherit in their design.
