NEW GTX2876r KA-T
NEW GTX2876r KA-T
i was wondering if anyone KA's are running this turbo set up yet...theres a thread going on zilvia, but for an SR, i want to see wat kind of power and boost and response this turbo has for a KA....ppl are already sayin it comes on faster, smoother, and has more power per boost when compared to the gt2871r????
i have this turbo as well but the motor is still in the works : (
also interested to see as well if anyone is running the DOC T2 bottom mount manifold?

Im hell bent between 3 turbos:
Tomei Arms M7960 (I think the 8270 will be too laggy)
http://www.frsport.com/Tomei-173019-M79 ... 17088.html
The Garrett GTX2867r in .86AR V-band
Or Garret GT3071r .64AR T25 with 3 inch inlet
AGH!! Decisions decisions!
Goal: Very good resonse, and mid 350s HP or so at 15PSI on bottom mounted turbo.

unless they fixed it from about a year ago. Tomei turbos are a junk and overboost like crazy (im not even sure if they make EWG units though).
theres nothing to think about. get the 3071. or save yourself $1200 and get an hy35. look em up, VERY comparable.

Yeah they fixed the Tomei creep issues which were pretty hunting them back in 2010.sdaigle240 wrote:unless they fixed it from about a year ago. Tomei turbos are a junk and overboost like crazy (im not even sure if they make EWG units though).

The turbo will have to be a t2 flanged because of the stock SR20 mani that im getting converted. The HY35 is a t3 flange for what I remember.
The GTX2867R with .86 sounds like a lot of fun too! it flows 50lbs a min and has 475HP rating

Hell yeah, another SR20 conversion manifold...
I had a member here make me one....running a smaller t28r, but I'm seriously looking at the gtx2876 for next summer.
I cannot wait to see how they perform on a KA, on an SR - I've seen dyno charts for 400whp with an external WG and other supporting mods at ~21psi

^your taking the extra (and expensive) effort to make a BOSS 2876 setup but most wont even touch you efficiency.
heres some numbers for a typical setup... this is a dynapack which is ~26% higher then a mustang and 13% more then a dynojet. and this is a T3
viewtopic.php?t=44790&highlight=%2A3071%2A
same dood, more boost and tuning. really pushing it here.

Yeah $1400 turbo aint cheap by no means!
So far the specs are GTX2867r with .86AR T25 Plus housing with a 2.5" V-band outlet for $1400 which is the BEST price that I have found with that upgraded housing.
My manifold process has beggan! Here's the 38mm flange getting welded to 1/8 thick DOM pipe that will be welder ontop of the manifold for external WG setup. I will show you the progress as it goes.
I will be buying the turbo in a few days. Maybe today!

Wooo!! The turbo has arrived along with the finished manifold!
I can't wait! This turbo is much smaller than the T3t4 and the mani + turbo combo is also much lighter than my current. I will test fit it on the car maybe next weekend!

Its got lots of clearance with the stock turbo:
Cant wait to get that puppy going!

Yeah man this one dude I know can really do an awesome job with these! There's another post on here where I posted more pics of it. I got the flanges resurfaced and now Im just waiting for the right weekend to start converting.ICEMAN.KCMO wrote:Wow... for a budget hack job manifold, that looks REALLY good... I would consiter dumping my current T2 manifold for that one...

Very interesting setup. I'll have to check back on this from time to time.
How do the SR20 exhaust ports compare to the KA's? Same size?

The runners line up correctly, however, the SR manifold will need some porting. The diameter was quite bigger on the KA flange compared to the SR ports. I ported the manifold and all it needs is a cleaning from the inside to make sure I rid it of debris.jholman05 wrote:Very interesting setup. I'll have to check back on this from time to time.

I started the actual project and made a picture thread so that I don't flood the chat channel.
I'm going to get to work on it this weekend by swapping/pulling/removing parts. Fabbing will likely get started next week because the welder/fabricator is busy as balls at the moment:

I'll do the water lines this weekend
