Need help with radiator fan wiring

So I have these dual fans that the previous owner tried to wire in but I have no idea what he was trying to do. I keep reading that wiring to the relays is the best way instead of a switch, can you guys make sense of this? Hopefully these pics are enough, let me know if you want a pic of something specific....

just connect the signal wire/switch wire from the relay to any wire that turns on with the ignition. thats what i did and had no problems with it.
