S14-Z32 MAF wiring questions

Posted this to the sticky as well, but I thought it might help to create a separate topic to draw some attention to it.
Been doing some wiring cleanup, and started on the MAF the other night..

For the grounds - do the N62 ECU ground and Chassis ground HAVE to be wired that way? Any negative impact from wiring the MAF chassis ground to the ECU ground, and the MAF ECU ground to the Chassis ground?

Edit: Deleted stupid question about shrouded wire - turns out some idiot (me) used a section of shrouded wire to lengthen a shorter wire, and did such a good job cleaning it up previously that they FORGOT IT WAS DIFFERENT.
arias pistons (8.8:1), pauter rods,
cometic headgasket
garrett t3/4 50 trim
mild p&p, pdm cams, 3" turbo back,
jwt flywheel and ecu, clutch specialties clutch
740cc injectors, ebay fmic,
elec fans, msd, stock vlsd, z32 brakes and mafs, safc2, hks evc 4, Koyo Radiator, protective layer of dirt.

Why would you want to wire it differently?

I wired mine both to the ground wire of the harness. Works.
