What are the chances of bent valves?

Post by dj_smooth »

Just finish replacing the head gasket. It appears I timed the intake and exhaust cams @ 20* advance in correlation to the crank. The car has not started, but I am able to spin the crank by hand. I have attempted to start it a few times, but have not officially got it to start. I realized that I also stabbed the dizzy with the anticipation of the rotor spinning clockwise. I have rhe not starting issue figured out, but I am just curious, what are the chances that I could have bent my valves? Stock cams.

Check the clearances of the bucket & shim to the "no lift" part of the cam, greater than 20 thousandths is a bad sign.
