S-AFC "knobs" setup for KA24DE?

Post by janders211 »

I have the 1 gen S-AFC and need to figure out how to wire it for the S13 KA24DE.

1. Type Select (U=up, D=Down) DD UUU DUD
2. Car select--> No idea, is it 4, 5, or 6?
3. Wiring diagram--> N1, N3, N4, N6, N9...or maybe I can just find a s13 pinout.

Any help would be very much appreciated. I plan on running full -30, or -28 with 370cc'f from a TT z32.

Question # 2 is the big question.

-Thanks

put it on 4 for 4 cylinders and the arrow pointing upwards to the right

go on apexi's site. they have diagrams. they list the s13 to use n3-b, but i dont see that diagram on the site. if you know where the n3 is then use that.

if you have a FSM it shouldnt be too hard to find the 5 or so wires u need

Ooops, I had the things reversed, it's really UUDDDUDU

Structure240sx-
That info is for the digital S-AFC. I have the "knobs" non-digital AFC, with this manual:

http://www.apexi-usa.com/productdocumen ... c_gen1.pdf

altough the KA24DE is not listed...I just need another car that uses a MAF with the same airflow/voltage scale as the S13 MAF.

What other cars(i.e. those listed in the table) use the same MAF, or an interchangeable one?

I have a S14 and I read somewhere long ago to use the same settings as the S14 SR20. UUDDDUDU
That seems to be working fine for me. I would assume yours is the same but don't quote me on that.
The pinouts can be found here:

The SAFC Update on Apexi's site tells you what pinout picture to use which in your case it is world N3-B like Structure240sx said
http://www.apexi-usa.com/productdocumen ... udpate.pdf

That picture is located in the S-AFC Wiring Manual

I don't know what a S13 ECU looks like but I would get a pinout and match it up.

I'm not sure if the MAF matters but I'm running the Cobra MAF and it is definately working. I have a wideband hooked up and when I change the first knob to +30 during idle I go from 20.7-21.5AFR to 18.4-19.6AFR. I should do the math and see what % that really is but I'm too lazy.

Hope that helps

I'll probably try both 5 (s14)and 6(s13 sr20DE, and maybe the ca18de setup if neither of those work) for the vehicle, and UUUDDDUDU as that seems to be the Nissan 4 cyl standard. The pinout I can figue out, as the ECU wires are color coordinated :)

I appreciate the info!

Hey,
I know this an old thread but I can't find much info on this version of safc. If any could offer insight, I'd greatly appreciate it. Just trying to get it running.I wired mine up and it barely idles. Wideband is showing 9 afr. The ecu is throwing a code for a bad maf.
