Turbo rebuild question
Anyone around here have experience rebuilding turbos? So far I have rebuilt two without issues. However, this time I'm having trouble with the turbine binding with the housing, the housing and turbine are in good condition. They are of the same Garrett specs and are compatible. I'm not sure what is causing the trouble. It seems that the turbine is being aloud to seat too far into the housing. If I pull it back just a little, it frees up and spins without issue. It seems like if I were able to shim the lip where the CHRA rests in the housing it would be fine. I hope I have explained the issue well enough..

Re: Turbo rebuild question
Check that "Dust Shield" That goes between the turbine wheel and center section. There is probably carbon buildup that wont let the shield sit flush. That has happened to me on a few rebuilds.
