Se let me get this straight Gandolf, Your car does not even run yet let alone made a 14, 13,12,10, or 9 sec pass on the KA motor?!?!? but in 30 days you are going to cut a 9. you might want to lay off the fairy dust Mr Wizard
Although you can prove me wrong by posting up some dyno sheets from the elusive Factory porsche and BMW built drag cars. that might shut me up.
Who the hell are building the motors?? do they have a any idea what they are doing? This amount could have bought after market stuff but almost everybody I know who build ka blow them after a couple of runs
get outta here!!!! you are not a mechanic!!!! you had me fooled.I think I have figured out why but since I am not a mechanic I cannot challenge an engine builder with my theories but rather have to prove them to be correct
yeah or the fact that they are building cars that are meant to be more street driven and track based with a more usable power band. The true mark of a good engine is how easy you can get the torque band to be in sync with its hp; 400hp/400torque. Porsche, bmw and a few other import companies have managed to accomplish this

Ivan I truly wish you well.

You crack me up.... I am going to have some fun with this...wizard wrote:I will only be posting a picture of the car when its done and will not be posting on your precious site until then, have fun beating each others chest.
Most everybody here will agree that its easier to respect a person for SHOWING their accomplishments rather than just stating their goals (obtainable or not)... Your goals are lofty to say the least and some of the more knowledgable people here would say they were on the unrealistic end of the spectrum...
The weight your shooting for is on the light side.. 2250 is 350 lbs less than my car... With an S13 your starting off with a lighter car so that will help but finding another 250ish lbs to remove from the car will be tough without gutting the car completely... Is it possible to get a car to that weight?? for sure...
Assuming you hit your cars target weight and figuring your weight at 200 lbs with racing gear on, you will need aprox 540 whp to pull 141 mph traps... Certainly obtainable on a built KA... but pulling a 9.3 with those traps will be impossible unless you are making over 600 whp, have perfect traction, 60ft like mad and then hit the brakes at the end of the quarter mile...
I would have to assume that your using an AT trans to obtain your goal as your traps versus your ET kind of dictates that... If your planning on using a manual trans, then your traps will be much higher than you stated to run a 9.3 ET... More along the lines of Mark's 154 mph trap speeds (which by the way you would need nearly 700 whp for).... So back to assuming your using an AT trans... for you to state 7300 rpms at the beams would be a gusstimate at best... Torque convertors are a funny thing Without testing, you can only guess as to what your rpms will be crossing the line....
Your theroies of HP matching TQ to keep a motor together are.... well... I wont go there... To assume that you can keep these numbers identical with a turbo large enough to provide the power you need to run your ET goal is kind of laughable.... It wont spool soon enough to make TQ equal to the HP your shooting for.... Or you would have to build a motor that DROPS volumetric efficiency with RPMS to meet those goals.... If your pulling 7300 rpms, your WAY past 5252 rpms where HP and TQ are equal so your torque (VE) at 7300 would have to be WAY down from your peak (or TQ at 5252) to keep your HP numbers the same as peak TQ....
Pulling twenty 10 second passes on a stock motor would be cool... I think that SMR has been doing that for a while though using nitrous on stock motors to run in the 10s.... His car is purpose built for drag racing and he has been at it for a while.... Can YOU do this?? For sure.... You spend enough money in the right places and sombody will build you that car...
I think that most people here wish you the best of luck and look forward to seeing your progress... I for one am interested in how close your checkbook can get you to your goals... Keep us updated.... in the mean time.... I am going to go back to "beating my chest" about my 700+ whp low 10 second 240sx that I built with my own hands with the help of my friends
