newbe Datsun 510 KA24DET

Post by datsun510 »

Just wanted to introduce myself. I am in the process of building my 510 along with Mario of TSR fab. We are using a KA24DET and are in the process of puting it together. I have attached a couple of pictures. Hoping to have completed in the near future.

Its been a while but the car is getting closer. Here are a few of the updates.

Instead of flipping the crossmember to mount the KA in the 510, my fabricator made a custom fully gated hammerhead oil pan and pickup.

Gonna run an intake like this.

We went with all chromemoly stub axles, companion flanges and axles with Porsche 930 CV's. Should be pretty bulletproof.

Man it takes a long time to get all the custom pieces made. Hopefully it will be complete soon.

The engine is stock with a HKS GT28-35R Turbo, Converting the turbo to a Tial V-band stainless housing and using a Tial 44mm V-band wastegate. TSR stainless log manifold, TSR intercooler with a garrett core, 555 Nismo injectors on a Custom sheetmetal intake with a Tomai 70mm throttle body. It will have an intank Walbro pump with a Aeromotive regulator. 3" stainless exhaust. The ECU is by JWT. I will get it going with the stock engine on low boost and then build another engine for some more fun.

Wow, I hate you! jk... That is going to be a stupid-fun-to-drive car(in the best way possible of course)! got to love the 510's...
I might suggest looking into the Nistune board over the JWT, but just a suggestion...
Either way, I have to go change my shorts now

Wow, It has been a long time but finally got some stuff accomplished on the car, Finished getting the mini tubs done and installed the rear suspension in the car. Now we were able to fit the 245/35/18 under the stock fenders. The light is looking brighter now and hopefully will have it together in the near future.

i think I am in love. Those old 510s don't get the love they deserve. Props on the uber clean engine bay. And the tires fit SOO well.

What you going to be running for engine management?

Also - what's that car i see hiding behind the 510's rear bumper?

Hey man, lookin' good!
Which exhaust manifold did you use? I'm trying to figure out how much room I have between the engine and strut tower.. may end up doing one of those JGS custom logs.. thanks!

Wow. Super clean car and setup. Mad props, and envy as well. I love the 510, especially when it's swapped with the Ka. Cant wait to see the finished product. More pics please.
Cough, Featured Ride, cough. We should talk to Klatt about this. There are plenty of s13 and s14 cars on that list, but there has yet to be a 510.
