New dyno Headgasket bye bye

Post by Berserker »

Went to the Dyno today finished tuning, everything was fine drove back home, did some pulls on the highway. But then stopped, started driving again noticed it was overheating a bit. Then Pulled over and looked the reserve tank was 3/4 filled, I had this problem before. Headgasket leaking under high load. So time to upgrade I guess.

If that does not work, 12mm head studs.

I'm already 1 size up, saw a few guys running stock size 10mm in the 700whp range.
So if the gasket seals good it should hold just fine with the 11mm I have in there.

What gasket is in it now? 600hp shouldn't be stressing 11mm studs or a metal gasket. There might be something else wrong with the setup.

It was OEM felpro headgasket. Cooling getting pushed into reserve tank on 4th gear pulls.

I am surprised it made it that far!

Go felpro!

Nice power too!

Well that makes sense lol. I hope when you did machine work with the Felpro, that you had the head and deck blocked to MLS standards.

He resurfaced the head and he prepped it, when I talked to him few months ago he told me that I wont need to redo that whole process if I wanted to install MLS, but I'm going to call him and confirm about that.

I drove 500whp for whole summer. So felpro can hold 500 for a while, because I was beating on the car hard.. But I wanted to push it and see what happens.

I hate the gray crap that composite gaskets leave all over your cooling system >:(

Piece of paper towel on the end of a shish kabob stick forever trying to clean out the inside of the reservoir....
