Definately 400whp.....

Post by nissanfanatic »

Well I made 5 passes trying to get my boost under control. It kept spiking to 1 bar and dropping to .8 or spiking to 1.3 and dropping to .9 ect ect. So, I borrowed a MBC from a friend of mine. Put it on, same thing..

Last night I pulled the wastegate to find out that my lower nipple was screwed in too far and that was hitting the lower part of my diaphram. IE, the wastegate was staying open about .25". Fixed that.

Today, first pass, I was only hitting .85kg/cm2 even at 1.0kg/cm2 target boost and with 70% DC. I put the MBC on.

Finally set it up good and got a nice-ass run.

R/T-----------.465
60'-----------2.146
1/8-----------8.544
MPH----------90.18
1/4-----------12.675
MPH----------122.38

That was spiking to 22psi and holding steady at 20psi. This setup is NICE on the street.... I was running approx 50% 100 octane, 50% 93 octane. I definately say that is over 400whp. My car is stock weight minus trunk interior stuff and A/C.

I disconnected my overboost protector because my Hobbs switch failed.

I went to Gainesville Raceway.

cory thats deep 11's with traction. get some 5 lug hubs and ill bring you my welds/DRs!!!

i been upping the boost lately too, i got it up to about 18, then after adjustments i hit 20, but my boost gauge is only a 20psi one so i think it was hitting 21 or 22 and it tried to detonate on me, felt good though. these enthalpy tunes are badass, i just need some 100 octane and then i think im gonna go for a 20 psi run on the DRs next month at a track day.

Yea I saw a few cars doing 11.1's at 120-121mph. Miami240 did low 11s at 123 or so too.

20psi is definately fun..!!

Nope, no lightweight flywheel. Yes, stock S13 cams.

....

There is nothing more I can do. By feel, I can tell I am right on the edge of spinning each launch. I am handicapped by lack of spending money on tires, rims, suspension, and a limited slip. None of which I ever plan to use as an excuse. If anyone notices, I only say this when someone asks why my ET sucks so bad.

As before, its a street car and I am there for MPH.

I usually bounce between 3500-4000rpm and slip the clutch out. If I feel spin, I back off the throttle slightly. I've hit 2.0 on this setup before, but I am pretty sure the track was prepped much better those nights. I doubt I can do much better on this setup.

Nope. No built engine in the near future. Tomorrow is the last day I get to drive my car for a long time tho... I plan on engaging in some extra lunacy...

nissanfanatic: what happened to your 1/8 mile trap speed? I certainly dont doubt your run but I have never seen a car (either boost or n/a) gain over 30mph between the 660' and 1320' at your level of performance. You should be able to pull more than 90mph!

Sup Corey, just had the exact same problem with boost spiking. The problem only started since summer time. I fixed the problem by relocating my boost solenoids to the front of the engine bay near my air filter. This cured the problem and I was able to turn the gain up on to make the turbo more responsive. I believe the culprit was the heat for me. I hope this maybe helpful for someone. It worked for me.

Well I am quite a ways from my car right now.lol

I thought 90mph was good. But it is probably traction related...

are you still running on stock internals with well over 100k? Curious since I have similar mileage and plan on pushing the factory short block pretty hard.
