it sounds like you need someone who is more technical with computers to help you.

nope.

there is a big problem here.

we're trying to 'fix' something over the internet. we have pretty much NO information from you except that these things aren't working.

we're not with you, we're not seeing the errors, or the ports, or the operating system or anything....

this will not be fixed by people over the net, as far as I can tell. The only thing that could make this even feasibly possible to 'fix' is if you put up screenshots of everything you're doing and put a lot of detail into describing the situation. Otherwise, this is just way too complicated, it seems, to fix with the limited information available.

ya know... just make sure the com ports are working and the FTDI drivers are in and the cable is connected. those are the things we can for sure tell you to 'fix' or make sure are working.

you could try reinstalling the FTDI drivers too...

Hi, i just downloaded and installed CalumSult on my windows 7 laptop without any problem!
I decided to connect a 91 stanza ecu (with consult) that i have laying around, but i can´t get the laptop to recognize the connection, i´ve also downloaded and installed the drivers, but no response.
Another thing that might be important is, i don´t have the ecu hooked to the harness or any 12v power source!
When i plug the usb cable from the ecu to the laptop, it trys to connect but it can´t. I don´t know if it´s something related to the drivers, they were installed ok.

You need to have the ecu powered up (installed in a car and have the key on) before you can connect to it

To the OP and thread jacker

Check the consult plug wiring and if its chipped, try making or getting another chip, it may be burned incorrectly or just bad. Also check to make sure the chip/board has not come unseated.

If connecting via serial or parallel cable, make sure its a straight thru cable, not a crossover or anything else.

Also for anyone reading this in the future with consult connection problems. It is best to rewire your obd1 consult connector directly into the ecu. Even that short distance from the passenger side to the drivers side can cause electrical interference. I have been using an ecutalk cable with this method and I never drop communication using Nistune. I have never attempted to use calums software.
