AEM EMS for 1997 KA24DE??

Post by drewssc400 »

I'm interested in getting the AEM EMS setup. The only S14 application I see on their website is for 1995 only. Is this for emissions reasons only? In that case, could I just run a S13 AEM EMS and use a S13 ECU and delete all my emissions stuff? Thanks!

No, AEM doesn't really care about emissions. They sell it for racing use only, after all. There was a subtle change in pinout design from '95 to '96. It appears AEM has a '96-'98 model but it may not be out yet:

You wouldn't need a spare S13 stock ECU there; the AEM EMS would take over all its functions.

I was able to snag one of the last series I units for OBD II. From what I've read on here and other forums it simply ignores the emission system inputs back to the ecu.

i have the series 2 on my 97 and i love it. keep your emission stuff if you want, the ecu wont give a sh1t. get a map sensor and call it a day.

The Series 1 PnP on my '98 works fine. I do have my ECU repinned at the plug for a '95 ECU though. Been that way for a while.

So they don't have the 30-1611 which is 96-98 model series 1 ems. They do have a 30-1610 which is compatible with a 95 ka24de. Now i know the harness is the same from 95-98 except minor pinout changes.

My question is can i use the 95 s14 version ems in my 98 kouki w/o changing the pins at the harness or do i have to change it for aem to function properly?

The thing is 95 is obd1 for the most part and thats why people put them in later year cars i personally never had done it but heard of a few on here using a harness or doing a little wire switching and using the obd1 ecu so direct pnp i would guess no...someone that has experienced this ca chime in...

Well I was able to find a 30-1611 obd2 series 1ems at the discounted price. So it's all good. I just bought a 98 Kouki ka-t w/ a Godspeed setup that I'll be ditching very soon. Putting my 60-1 and tial 38mm. Hoping for 350hp around 15lbs
