Electric Fan through Calum RT

Post by BOBCAT »

I know this has been covered but I spent 3 hours yesterday searching everywhere for the answer.
I need to know how to control when the Electric Fan turns on in my S13.

I have a KA24de from a 95 in my 92 S13. Have Calum RT installed from my sentra and have the stock BIn file loaded.

What XDF do I need to alter the Stock Bin to allow me to change the temp of when the electric fan turns on?

Hope this is simple.

The "S13KA revised.xdf" has fan temp entries but the xdf header info says "XDF for 1991 to 1993 B13 SR20DE or S13 KA24DE", so it may not be applicable to a 1995.
Here are the entries:
250C - Fan Temp #1A
2534 - Fan Temp #1B
2514 - Fan Temp #2A
2538 - Fan Temp #2B
251C - Fan Temp #3A
253C - Fan Temp #3B
2524 - Fan Temp #4A
2540 - Fan Temp #4B

got your pm. it works on an s14. a member on here made a little program that you enter the desired temps and it saves the changes to the bin. pm me your email and ill see if i can send it to you.

What ECU are you running? Bluebird 91-94?

If this is a sentra ecu you should have satisfactory fan control built in from the factory.

I found it on google drive by just googling fantemp.exe. lol

Downloaded and altered the BIN. The bin was still at normal temps. 212 for 4th. I have it way down like 122F lol Always on!!!

I will put into my ECU and let you guys know.
Thanks again.

After some research I have found that the manual transmission FWD ecus have two, single speed fans and a single relay. Because they don't have a manual clutch fan, I figured they would have had factory two speed fan control, but I was wrong.

Basically, the fan system is exactly the same as an S13 (single relay, 1 fan speed). All the wiring lines out as well. Any xdf/bin that works for S13 fan control should work with the bluebird ecu.

Let us know if it works!

Well, the fan never turned on.
Here is the settings as follows.

Hysteresis Value = 3
First Trigger = 30
Second Trigger = 40
Third = 50
Fourth = 60

Am I doing something wrong?

are you opening fantemp.exe making the changes, saving the bin then re loading the bin to the ECU? that lil program is not RT so you have to upload the changes.

i set my hys. to 1 and the rest of the values the same. should obviously still work with your settings though.

So you set your Hysteresis to 1 and the rest like mine?
Looked up hysteresis and all i got out of it was something about a loop... Looks more like something an engineer would know.

I will set mine to 1 and see what happens.
Also, just changed out the S14 intake temp sensors to s13, so now my car is reading correctly on the dash and ECU, hopefully...

Yes, I know how I have to upload the BIN files to the ECU. Just not sure how to get real time feedback wile the care is running. I would love to have that.

well sir, lucky you, im an engineer lol. Hystersis is how many degrees it will allow it to deviate before turning the fans back on. 1c is in the ballpark of 2f, so i wouldnt go making it like 5c, but my 1c is probably unnecessary.

my values are more like
1
78
78
78
78

download calumsult for real time feedback. it wont maptrace but it will show you gauges and data log.

I can't figure out why you would always want it on. If you want it always on, you might as well just hook it directly to a +12V source that's on when the car is on. But doing that puts unnecessary stress on your alternator. I'd rather have it come on only when it gets above a certain temp. That's pretty much the point of being able to control the temp via the ECU or an aftermarket fan controller.

Mine comes on at 195 and goes off at 175. With a 180 degree thermostat, it operates just like I want it to.

Is their a guide for the wiringg this ? I know the ecu can control this but how to wire it would be nice...
Yeah um..... so so who cares if my cars not the fastest...its sure the hell not the slowest!

Goal for spring of 11 is 12.9sec 1/4 for less then 1500$!!! i think i can do it !!!!

its stock. its the AC fan plug for a stock rig. loose the shroud, mechanical fan, a/c fan and an altima fan will plug right in. or an fan just minus the oem connector.

Hey all,
Oddly enough I still have the source code sitting around for the fan temp twiddler. I no longer have any windows machines around to build it on but if any one wants the source I'll gladly give it away.
