Yet another timing thread (t28, 93 octane)

Post by modulation »

How does this timing map look for 93 octane and a t28? I add the psi column which I thought should help. Virtual dyno says my t28 journal bearing setup is only putting out 222hp in 3rd gear which makes me sad. I've left timing on the table, my afrs or off (hover around 11.7:1 in boost), or more likely my engine is tired. Probably should do a compression check soon.

Could I bump a couple of degrees up for 10-11 psi at > 6000rpms?
How about bumping the 10psi column up to 19 degrees since I'm running 93 and not 91? Got a ISR front mount intercooler and weather temps are only going to go down soon.

On my setup with the S15 t28 i was running 20-22* @10psi with a good intercooler and high milage engine.

I'd say you are good. Do you have a way to monitor knock?
Wiseco/Eagle, JWT S1 cams, BC valve springs, PT5857, ID1700 injectors, SR20DET ECU w/ Nismotronic, COP conversion with LS ignition coils, etc, etc...

Sorry for the slow response..
I don't have any way of monitoring knock. I should hook up some det cans, seen alot of diys for them..

I'm running a big ISR FMIC on 93. Have ran that timing for months so it's good. I might dial it back a few degrees for summer.
ICEMAN thanks for the info about 20-22*, were you running 93 octane? What typical weather temps? My engine is also high mileage but had head gasket replaced 5-6 years ago and arp studs.

Then you are better off then i was. As hot as 100* days 60-95% humidity 91 octane.
