foxbody mustang vs. stockish s13

Postby carcrzy920 » Wed Nov 17, 2010 11:15 am

one day i was headed home with a friend of mine that has a mustang and we were going the same direction home so we ended up lining up at a stop light at like 2am (litterly no one else on the road or else i wouldnt have done it) me and him have raced before but that was when my fuel pump was dieing and only putting out like 22psi. well the same day we raced was the day i put my walbro in so my car was feeling like a million dollars to me. well we both launched spining through 1st and i had a nasty chirp in 2nd lol. we never left each others side for even a second. we were headlight to headlight the whole race. im not sure the distance but i got to fourth for a few seconds before we let off. i was pretty impressed with my car after this. but i hate racing on the street unless its completely empty.

mustang mods:
5.0 lx
headers
catless H pipe
full exhaust
all driveshaft
intake
drag radials
4.56 gears with a spool
125 shot of nitrous (wasnt on when we raced)

s13 mod:
dohc
3"test pipe
3" custom exhaust
all driveshaft
lightened flywheel
**** 205 street tires
j30 vlsd
2680lbs w/me

im in the process of putting a t25 setup on my s13 now and he wants to race me again once im done but with the nitrous this time. ive seen the car run mid to low 8s in the 1/8 mile on the nitrous. i think itll be another good race for a track this time though.

Something was wrong with the foxbody if you were even with him. Possibly it started to fall apart as it seems they can do that.

Just makes no sense, if he car is running well its 225hp+, you are at 155hp. Much less the tq difference.

i talked to him about the race yesterday and he said he had the nitrous plugs in it. but i doubt plugs could make that much of a difference. maybe my car is just a possessed ka lol. me and him have done highway pulls before and i usually pull on him a little cuz he tops out the 4.56 gears quick. its an 89 lx notch back. like i said i was shocked i kept up with him too. we both spun like crazy off the launch which is probly the reason he didnt pull on me off the line.

he probably just can't drive ...that's why you pulled on him doesn't matter if you'r car is fast if you don't know how to drive it shifting at 3k when racing and such witch is probably the case since you say it wasn't his car ...i dont find fox bodys fast but i know they would beat my stock 4 clyinder if the guy can drive it without hitting a tree

It could have been driver error. Back in the day I took down 2 5.0's in my 1994 accord coupe NON vtec lol.

The 302 mustang is pretty damnslow. I'm not really surprised. Hell, I smoked a 04 v6 mustang in my car, and its only 25hp less than a 302
