So this weekend I had planned on racing a 98 cobra. We met up along with a guy who owns a C5, and went 3 wide.
98 cobra - hp unknown, probably 270 or so whp
-exhaust
92 240sx base coupe - hp unknown, guessing at least 270whp after this race
-stock block/cams/headgasket
-Isis t25/t28 on 12psi
-3" turbo back, xspower manifold, no cat.
-740cc nismos
-n62 maf
-enthalpy tuned e85
-walbro 255
-CXracing FMIC
-open diff with 245/50/16 kuhmo ecsta ast's on 300zx tt wheels
-etc
-etc
C5 vette (said it dyno'd 370whp)
-ms3 cam
-ls6 intake
-bolt ons
-tune
-head work? Something done to them, if not swapped.
From a 35 I spun 2nd, the cobra pulled forward as did the vette. I missed 3rd for 5th and fell back a lot, slammed it back in 3rd and couldn't make up for it.
We went again from 35 with me and the cobra getting a car head start and the jump. We hit it, I spin through 2nd again putting me at about 3500 in 3rd, was a little sluggish from that but once the boost came on it started to reel in the cobra and passed him at the top of 3rd. I hit 4th and the vette is ahead by 2 or 3 cars, but he wasn't quite pulling anymore at this point. As I'm about to shut it down the radiator blew a hole in it, and I limped it back to our meeting spot before it got too hot. (possible headgasket failure, or just old stock radiator) I think the wheel spin and low rpm into 3rd really hurt me. Was surprised I hung in there like I did, but the vette driver said they were short shifting. Will try to get the video and post it.

Time for a J30 Dif my friend!!!! definately would have changed the outcome. I'd say 1 or 1/2 cars closer due to your wheel spin and bog into third (because of low rpm). Happens to me all the time!

It's really more than you would expect (hurting you) when I said 1 to 1 1/2 that was on the low... I'm pretty sure if you put your power down right you would have beat both of them. I have beat similiar cars at 10 psi on pump gas with my 50 trim .63 A/R turboCoupe92 wrote:Yeah I hope so, an extra car would be great. will be getting a j30 sometime soon before our 1/8th mile track opens back up for the summer.
