SICKSPEED TB was not a direct bolt-on. I could've modified it to fit but opted out of the decision and sent it back for a refund. I'm just going to snag a new OEM one. I'm not going to lie, I've been slacking again. The beer, friends and nice weather make me not want to stay in the garage. I've also been playing around with my RC toys. But, I finally did get to drop the rear subframe with some friends. Now I need to clean it up, maybe paint it (most likely haha) and try to score some tubed arms from GodSpeed.

Godspeed arms are not bad, I can vouch for that. All my arms are Godspeed, and they really aren't too stiff. It took sears 4.5 hours to align my car though lol!

This makes me want to change my subframe bushings, I'm too lazy though

Have you driven on them yet for extended periods of time? I keep reading mixed reviews about them. Some say "I beat the **** out of them @ the track and they're still fine", while others are like "stay away from them, stay stock". I'm hoping that my car sees a lot of track time. It's not going to be a daily. I'm torn between getting the GSP arms or redoing all of the bushings.

I've only driven about 20 miles on them, so I can't give any long term info. I kept my front lower control arms stock and rear A arm stock and just resid those bushings. If you don't plan on slamming your car, o would definitely stay stock with es bushings.

Perhaps getting the bushings set would be the best way to go here. I'll get the camber, toe and tractions rods just so I have some level of adjustability and skip getting the LCAs. I plan on running on 2 different tracks in NY so it'd be nice to be able to tune the suspension as needed.

Well, I just ordered the master kit from Energy Suspension. It includes the front and rear sway bar & end-link bushings as well as the front and rear arm bushings. I also saw a bushing set for the differential so I bought that too. This 18 year old suspension is going to feel so much better. I remember how sloppy it was before...

So...my friend and I are pondering the idea of making some products for the KA. I've had a few good ideas pop up in my head before for a few parts, but I haven't had the tools to execute my ideas. My friend is amazing in Solidworks and has access to a CNC machine. We'll see what comes of this in the near future!

Small update:

The sub-frame has been completely disassembled and inspected. I tore one of the main bushings as it was getting removed from the body. It was not fun getting the stuck and rusted sleeve off of that pin in the back! I scraped off any rubber I could off of it, slapped on a pair of locking pliers and went at it with a torch. It was a bit scary due to the gas tank being right there, but I managed to slip the old sleeve off of that pin - PHEW! I was really scared of breaking that off. I heard those are NOT fun to change. I just have a little bit of rubber to clean off and then everything is getting dropped off to get sand blasted and powder coated. Going to go black on the sub-frame and gold on the arms. The arms will be powder coated after they're "boxed" for reinforcement :)

Progress update :)

Got some more work done on the sub-frame. I torched out any left over rubber from the old bushings and cleaned the **** out of the bushing mount holes with a wire wheel attached to a 22K RPM die grinder. I used a air hammer to get the some of the sleeves out that Energy suspension calls for getting removed. This is great news because I can now take this whole damned thing to get sand blasted & powder coated! The arms and knuckles are getting dropped off @ NAPA to get the other bushings pressed out. Then I'll be sandblasting these @ my friend's house as he's got a blasting cabinet in his shop - lucky me! I'll need to find someone to box these arms for me...and then I can get them powder coated as well.

Well, I dropped off the sub-frame at a local shop to get blasted and powder coated :) I can't wait to see it again, all fresh and shiny!

Arms were boxed last night. I'll clean the welds up later today and post some pics :)

Still awaiting a call back about my rear sub frame. My guess is that it'll be finished this week.

In the meantime, I had the arms blasted to get them ready for powder coating:

Small update:

I decided to rebuild and powder coat my rear calipers as well. I have the whole rear end dismantled already so I figured, what the hell, whats a few more pieces? lol The S14s rear calipers come with actuators for the e-brake, which makes taking them apart a major PITA if you don't have the right tools. I had to borrow a friends "longer" snap ring pliers as mine were too short. I ordered the seal/ring kit today. Putting these back together is going to suck...

Finally got the calipers sand blasted. The guy who powder coated my pulleys for me keeps stiffin' me. Long enough to where my already blasted arms started rusting again. I guess he doesn't want to make any money so ***** him. With that said, I ordered my own powder coating kit. On the 10th of September, I'm buying my own blasting cabinet too. I'm sick and tired on relying on others to get **** done.

Here are the calipers, ready for a fresh coat.

I had to do some shopping at the local HF for some compressor accessories before attempting to do any coating. Main one being a air regulator. These coating guns only require 5-8psi. Any who, I cleaned up the arms for the e-brake actuator and did a test run to see how it goes. I think they turned out pretty good! I feel confident I can do the calipers next.
