Pics of Ka-t installed in a datsun 240z

Post by subtle_driver »

I posted this on Hybridz not too long ago. I remembered some people wanted to see this swap posted on ka-t.org but i was not able to because i wanted to wait till after the fist Event of the SDGrandChallenge.com series. We didn't want the competition to know what we had. But now they all know, and here you are!

BTW: if you want to see the thread on hybridz.org here is the link: [/url] http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=149772
I made this setup about 5-6 months ag ... hank you!

took us from october 2008, till june 7th 2009 to get it done. but most of it was bodywork and alot of down time due to flakey and lazy team members. all in all, it could be done in a month or less if we were rich and didn't have jobs or a life.

thank you! but I'm sure there are some much better setups than what we have out there! We did our best with a low budget.

If anyone lives in SD California, we are racing it at Barona drags this weekend. Saturday June 27 2009, we are a little worried about a Datsun 720 truck with a Mazda 2.0 turbo + nos, and an 86 mustang 5.0 with nos, and a dozen other $1k budget race cars and their secret weapons. And hopefully our ka-t zcar will hold up

sweet!
i've loved 240Z's for a long time. I've even considered putting my old KA-T setup in one one day.
I'm in SD for now so I'm going to try and make it to Barona to see the car, if not, are you going to be at any local meets/shows this summer?

the car was showing last friday night at race legal. did you go? i had to use everything i had in the willpower dept. to keep myself from drag racing it. Gotta save it for This weekend! I did drive my Friend Jason's 750hp ka-t s14... and my bro's 400+hp 1970 Nova. that s14 forces the blood to the back of your body.

we might go to some car meets, but it might not be turbo when you see it if the next event is an autox. way too much power for autox with street tires. we dont need to be spinning out in every other turn. lol!
we usually go to the Tuesday night Fusion meet after 7pm accross from Cheetas and the nissan dealership. The parkinglot has a subway and Fusions cafe (awsome boba) and a mexican food place and sushi with a hello kitty rip-off logo, and a key shop. ect... don't exactly know the address.

well, the intercooler is from an srt-4 so it kinda worked out that way. but ya, it does stay hidden and scares the crap out of unsuspecting supercharged mustangs.

Kaustav, one of my 7 team members, filmed 3 passes at this event! Enjoy!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3gxQpe4S68
Team Midnight Boba and Screaming Yellow Zonkers.
The yellow bug team (Zonkers) has some special engine, i dunno how they got it for under a $1000. oh well. we still beat them.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lf9-U9Yeae4
Thunderbox (Corolla) and Cone Killers (Mustang 5.0 with wet 200 shot)!
Some of our $1,000 competition.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATt6r4geGJY
Zonkers and Boba, (seems like there was tree trouble with the yellow bug's lane, so it wasn't a head-to-head unfortunately) We got a 8.0 second 1/8th mile pass at 96mph. Pretty good for 205mm street tires.
Supposedly 12.55 seconds with a calculator if it was a 1/4 mile. But i know its got potential high 7's 1/8th.

The 1/8th mile is not easy! if you screw up the launch even a little, you are doomed for a slow time. takes alot of skill and no room for catch up.

And Finally...
