looking good man. Body work takes a very long time but there's something satisfying about it. I love POR15 that stuff works like a charm

Looks good man! To be honest, I probably wouldn't have paid much attention to the DIY sticker, but now that you pointed it out... it would drive me nuts too.

So, did a controlled experiment this week trying to get some fuel economy out of my engine.

only changing driving style, limiting to about 15% throttle, was able to roughly 160 miles from 9 gallons, effectively 17 mpg in city driving (couple stops here and there, mostly 45-55mph driving). still have some sections of the map I have to adjust the fuel in.
*edit: actually got 17.97 mpg, drove 156.3 miles on 8.694 gallons.

when I get on the car all the time, i get about 11mpg (my afr's under load are pretty much a quick transition to 13.5:1 until wot of 12.5:1)

I wanted to hit the mileage the truck got on the engine at a minimum which I thought was 20 mpg (with a goal of 25mpg or >200 miles a tank). apparently the 04 silverado got 15 city, 19 highway. I keep reading these guys on the megasquirt forums hitting ridiculous numbers for fuel economy. while 17mpg sounds great, that still limits me to about 160 mile range before I want to refuel (and thats driving sub 15% throttle whole time, which is not very easy to do).

I probably need to widen the 14.7-15.5 afr section of my map to include lower rpm high load areas and that would modify the overall consumption some. finding that when im in 6th gear going 55, in the 1k rpm to 1.5k rpm, my afr's are really low (13.5-14 range). have no issues raising that part of the map, its not really in the transition zone when going to the area we want power.

I also started looking at the gen 4 front timing covers (they house the cam sensor for the newer cams). right now I dont have a cam sensor functioning because I have a newer cam in the older block (no wheel on rear side of cam). so if i swap those out, i can switch to full sequential and hopefully gain a little more mileage. just need a new cam timing gear, front cover and sensor (and just extend my cam sensor wiring)

after 2 years of running on this lsx setup (and over 11 years with this car), was finally time to let her go with all the changes going on in our lives at the moment. Had some issues that caused the car to get too hot on me for my comfort driving home one day, pulled off and let her cool down. Ended up replacing the thermostat, flushing the coolant system a few times. Thing gets clogged up if you just run water in it. Definately could use the gm coolant or water wetter.

Fixed the cooling system, had her stable when running just the coolant flush. Power steering pump was leaking, or so i thought. So i bought a new ps pump, turned out, it was just the 90* high pressure fitting leaking.

Ended up listing her for sale.

Took her out for a few more burnouts and pulls while she was up for grabs, and one today.

Said goodbye to my old friend today. Car is officially gone and in hands of a capable forum member. Best of luck with her Justalex, hope to see some sweet pics/vids of you ragging on her at the track.

Awe.. it sucks seeing someone else drive off with your baby. For serious/dedicated car guys like us, it's almost like losing a family member. 11 years is a long a55 time. I'm sure you've had a ton of good (and bad) memories in that car.
I've had mine since 2001. I dread the day when I will have to say goodbye to her.

Adulting ***** sucks.

I still miss my old 240s...my green zenki, black kouki, hell I even miss my rusty red hatch, and they were all just dds...

I think I'm firmly past my selling days. Just going to start parking nissans and mitsus in my back yard till the town starts to complain.

It's a bitter sweet moment. Sad to go but happy to get some money. That is how I felt with my motor but the VQ will make up for it.
