Just thought I would introduce myself.

Post by JordanM »

Hello, Im new into the 240sx scene, I'm unfamiliar with most of the technology into them... probably because I've mostly worked with old v8's, v6's, and even H4 Volkswagen engines. Still learning alot about fuel injection, and electronic controlled parts.. please bare with me. I'm 16 years old, I live in Sooke, British Columbia, Canada.

Anyways, enough about me and more about my car. It is a 1991 Nissan 240sx fastback, with a swapped in '94 KA24DE engine, setup to potentially run a turbo in the future. I bought it off one of my friend's father. He had been working on it for almost 2 years before I offered to buy it off him. I got a great deal on it, which I am very thankful for.

....no more boring stuff... here are the pictures.

This is a great forum. Your car is pretty clean, but i were you i would remove that wing and the tail lights. Or at least paint them.
The blue and red is a little crazy, too.

Welcome to the forum. I agree with emo_tactical9....not a fan of those tail lights, but looks good otherwise.

^ Did you have fun, now me and the mad scientist are going to have to go through and fix the piston rings you fried... jk welcome. The wing looks like shiat, get some stocker tail lights, and some coil overs after you get the car running. Take your time and learn... don't just jump in and destroy a nice clean engine.

In my opinion, stick with the tail lights bro, just tint it out and plus your main goal right now is boosting your KADE right?

Thanks for all the feedback, yes I agree, the spoiler may be a bit iffy, but my MAIN goal right now is to get it running

I dont particularily mind the red and blue in the engine bay, I suppose you can say it looks too much like Supermans spandex outfit, but other than that it looks clean, and thats what counts to me at the moment. As for the tail lights, I think they look damn nice, I dont see the problem? :?

The whole car is lowered a few inches, you cant see that in the picture because the engine was out of the car at the time, the front suspension was converted to coil over as well

 I'm not used to Fast & Furious jokes quite yet, probably because I spent most of my forum life on a old classic VW beetle forum

Once again, thanks for the feedback, right now I'm mostly going through the process of routing the wiring harness, and hooking everything up. The engine needs a exhaust manifold, alternator bracket, and idler pulley. You'll probably see me in the basic tech forum alot :)

P.S - The mods...
Slightly lowered compression - take the edge off the turbo
Cold air intake - who cares, I know it doesnt do anything
MSD Ignition
No EGR - Well, I'm in the process of actually removing it, the guy took it all off, but didnt block it, or do anything with the vacuum ports.
Lowered - Coil overs
Racing brake pads - stock rotors I believe
Aftermarket rims - they are sick...
Custom interior
Painted engine bay
Ka24DE motor
Magnaflow straight pipe exhaust - No Catalytic converter, no air care on V.I :D
Bunch of small little things - eg. Custom gauge panel in interior(a/f ratio, water temp, boost gauge), short shifter, etc...

i can't help but singing the Team America theme song when i look at your engine bay but you are from Canada. haha.

is this how you bought it? did you or the dad paint all the stuff and do the diamond plating?

don't bail on the rear wing. paint it to match the car. same with the headlights. it should help tie it together.

are those r34 wheels or eagle/cheap wheels? i can't tell in the small pics.

i see stock strut tops in the engine bay pics. you really have coilovers?

it looks like you are starting with a straight rust free chassis and that is GREAT!

Welcome to KA-T.
Electronic fuel injection and engine management is awesome! (to tie things in, they used it on a muscle car in the new F+F) I'm sure you will appreciate the money you'll save on gas.... until you start hitting boost lol.

The car looks very clean, I like it. Keep us posted on the build.

That Fast and Furious joke was referring to first movie. If you have not seen all of them yet, I highly recommend it, the most ridiculous stuff happens in all of them. In the last movie at the end when the sti is flipping the motor and full exhaust disappears. haha

When I bought the car I was told that it was converted to coil-overs, maybe I miss understood him... but as far as I know it was done. Honestly I dont really know the difference

All the work done to this car was done by the guy I bought it off, so far the only thing I have done to this car is put the engine and transmission in, and hooked up some wires  As for the wheels.... once again no idea.

What I'm looking for powerwise.... stock until I get everything all done up, and I know the car is fully functional, then I will start thinking turbo. In the future, I will probably be looking for 190-200 reliable horsepower.

Dont worry! Of course I have seen all of the Fast & Furious movies, they are by far my favorite. It took me a second to realize what the joke was referring to, but I had a sudden mental replay of that race, and laughed my ass off

Welcome to the forum!
Aside from most of us being smartasses (myself included), it's a great place to learn, and as long as you don't take yourself too seriously, you'll enjoy it.
Seems like you have the right attitude.
Very nice clean car. While I might not keep some of that stuff on there if it were mine, I can certainly appreciate how clean it is.
200 reliable is easy, just get some injectors from an sr20det (i hear they pull a premium one week before race wars!), a decent manifold (revhard works just fine), a t3 and a tune, maybe even an sr sidemount i/c. you'll be golden.

**obviously i left out the little stuff, oil lines, boost controller, bov, all the other little stuff.
arias pistons (8.8:1), pauter rods,
cometic headgasket
garrett t3/4 50 trim
mild p&p, pdm cams, 3" turbo back,
jwt flywheel and ecu, clutch specialties clutch
740cc injectors, ebay fmic,
elec fans, msd, stock vlsd, z32 brakes and mafs, safc2, hks evc 4, Koyo Radiator, protective layer of dirt.

Looks like one heck of a first car. Congrats. I was 18 when I got my first 240, so you got a leg up. These cars will make you the most happiest, pissed off person your friends and family will ever know lol. But that being said there great for someone who’s just getting into the scene. Easy to work on, and a PLETHERA of information to fix or do whatever you want to it. Take some time, read posts daily, and keep up that awesome attitude of yours. No matter what anyone else thinks of you or your car, always do what makes you happiest. You should be proud that you’re getting so hands on at such a young age. Keep us updated with the progress of the build. Best of luck!!
