Addressed the sloppy shifter bracket issue I had with the Xcessive short shifter kit. Thanks to wannaboost.

Looks great man. I just got my Mazworx/Z32 setup in this weekend. One thing I want to warn you about is that the shifter rattles/buzzes like crazy. I've searched online and it seems like it's a common gripe about the Mazworx shifter. Luckily, I have a loud stereo that I can crank up to drown it out, but it's still annoying as hell. I'd be interested to see if your does the same thing. I'm either going to try to fix mine, or get a whole new shifter. I've read good things about the Z1 Motorsports shifter. I hope it doesn't come to me having to buy a new shifter, but if I can't fix the Mazworx one, that's what I'll have to do.

I had no idea the shifter itself has that issue. Hopefully I will be strapping the truck down on the dyno today for a tune. I'll keep you posted on how my shifter works out.

Minor updates. Seats back from upholstery.

First time we strapped it down I was having issues. Turns out the plug wires for #2 and #3 were switched. :angry-teeth: Took me a few days to figure out after checking just about everything else 3 times.

New setup with .63 exhaust housing and boosting 15lb (previously 12lb with JGS log mani). What do you guys think it will make?

I have no idea what it will put down, but this is definitely one of my favorite builds on this forum. That "upskirt" pic is nice! The rear wheels, tires, and stance are dead sexy.

I assume your shifter isn't buzzing like mine or you would have mentioned it..?

I have a big hole where the shifter is at and currently don't have the carpet in it so it's very noisy and can't really tell if it rattles. It does have some play in it and I can see how it could be an issue. But reinforcing the bracket and linkage really makes shifting feel very nice and tight.

Battleling some heat issues with the intake temp. This is on a conservative tune and only revving to 5500rpm. I think there's more power up top but didn't want to push it till I get the new head in and turbo cam.

Sadly with all the upgrades (tune, better flowing header, Z32 trans and 8.8 rear end) my weaklest link once again is the motor.

Took for a spin last night and blew the motor. Motor ran untuned for 4 years with occasional pinging and I think it was already hurt. This would explain the numbers not being where we expected them. :(

I had just finished the trans cover.

Motor ran great for 4 years untuned. Pinging under heavy load and top end. I think that's what took it's toll on the motor. Now that I got it tuned and beefed up the trans is when it called it quits. Honestly I'm not mad about it because I did enjoy it. This also gives me a perfect chance to finally get the head completely done and install the turbo cam and solid lifters.

I think he meant the build in general with that comment.

Here's a quick vid of the dyno pull.

Subscribed to this build. Sorry to hear about the motor; it sounds like you got some great use out of it though. That's awesome you got a hold of another motor too..... and now the fun begins :]

Are you planning on leaving the carpet out?

I want to put a new carpet back in... but I'm getting the engine bay repainted and the inside of the cab done too. Not sure if I will want carpet once that's done.

I run Nistune for engine management. I ran RX7 460cc injectors for 3 years then I switched to ID1000's the last 2 years. Truck was never tuned and had some detonation occasionally. So 5 years of that took their toll, but I later found out my builder used pistons that were not up to par. Either way I got a good 5 years out of it. This build is going to be better, also redoing the head with O&J Stage II turbo cam and solid lifter conversion.

Yeah I hear you, a carpet less floor with a fresh coat of paint looks really good!

If you went that route, would you remove the sound matting/ deadening material too?

Carpet makes a big difference in sound. I think I'll keep it for comfort too. It is a show truck afterall with a little go.

Fresh new intake

Image

Carnage of the hurt motor.... piston #1 missing a chunk and #3 showing signs of damage too. Guess that explains the low numbers on the dyno.

Only updates are making things shiny but not one thing completed. Just parts everywhere.
