Smbonn's Track Star Street Car build

Post by smbonn2005 »

Ok well it all started with my S14 Zenki... Picked her up for a grand because the previous owner wasn't into cars and didn't know about the KA timing chain noise so he thought it was blown. Drove her the hour ride home and removed the upper guide and it was good enough for me.

I got tired of the exhaust (cut off muffler by previous owner) and replaced it with the Tanabe Medallion Cat-Back, Test pipe, and an ebay 4-2-1 header and at the same time dropped her on E-Motor Coilovers.

Image

Image

Had gotten XXR 962's on there for a while but decided i didnt like them and sold them.

Image

Got some other things done but decided that I really didnt wanna go rear overfenders on this car and that's what it really needed to look good, plus i really wanted an S13 coupe so I'm looking for one. Pulled the motor out of the S14 as well so I could start tearing it down for the build.

And now where she sits right now... State of Ohio has it immobilized right now for my stupidity but that will be taken off soon and then I'll have a coupe in my driveway =)

Why you getting rid of the crank? That money could be put somewhere else into your build. Possibly tuning since i dont see anything listed for tuning.

It will be stock crank for now with an ATI Super Damper, Eventually I'll be going to a Brian Crower crank as it is fully counterweighted so I wont have to worry about vibrations as much and can turn up my rev limiter. Pretty much wont happen for a year or so. And its gunna be tuned on an AEM EMS series 2

if you find the right person, someone will want to use the chassis... at thats gotta get done is chop out the rusted quarter an slap a fiberglass over fender then patch the rust hole on the rockers an cover them with a side skirt the that shell is ready to rock n roll "im asuming those are the only major rust spots"

Yeah literally thats the only rot, underneath is clean as hell. So its all just looks wise, which isnt too hard to fix at all.

And I possibly have a hit on a trade so I'm hoping =)

Nah daigle the thermostat is in the oil filter relocating one, the other one just lets me do -10 AN lines right from the block.

And JWT cam gears are in the plans as I know BC cams always need to be dialed in for some reason more than normal.

Well been researching and ordered a rb20 fidanza flywheel which shipped today and changed my mind on what im tuning with. Now looking at Megasquirt's MS3 setup as it does everything i want it to for much less.

Sent the Xcessive manufacturing intake mani back to have them drill out the secondary injector holes and swap to a q45 throttle body.

Starting to get excited again for this build!

Pretty much done with the head except for the valve guides and cam gears.

Turbo mani came in couple days ago as well. Am going to have to oval a couple of the bolt holes but thats what I get for skimping a little this time. Eventually it will have a full race mani but i rly dont have the money for one right now.

Pictures will be up after work tomorrow =)
